Weller Again! This Time at Delaware International!

Josh Weller's August hot streak continued last Saturday night August 27th at the Delaware International Speedway. Weller in the family owned Victory Auto Glass #63 won for the 3rd time in the past 3 races and it was the veteran drivers 4th win overall in the 2016 season.

A total of 19 United Racing Club 360 sprint cars signed into the pits last Saturday night at the Delaware International Speedway. With two heat races needed to complete the starting line up, heat race wins went to Weller and the 9D of Delaware native Andy Best. The former United Racing Club Rookie of the Year was competing in just his first URC race of the 2016 season.

After Weller drew the "0" invert pill the feature event was comprised of a heads up start from the heat races. Notibly starting in the rear of the feature event was the 2016 URC points leader Davie Franek who experience motor trouble during the heat race. Franek pulled out a back up car and promptly drove from the 19th starting position all the way up to 3rd during the 25 lap event. Meanwhile it was all Weller from the drop of the green flag earning his 3rd win in a row and 4th of the season. Weller now has a 6th, 5th, and 3 first place finishes in his last 5 races.

The Burlington NJ hotshoe Robbie Stillwaggon aboard the Quality Auto Body #89 was missing in action again due to effects from multiple wrecks during the season. His brother and 305 sprint car driver Ryan Stillwaggon filled in again for his brother bringing home a 9th place finish. Rookie Justin Whittall continues to impress with a 5th place finish and was the highest finishing rookie.

Up next for the United Racing Club will be a Labor Day weekend filled with non-points shows starting off Friday night at the Brewerton Speedway, the 1/3 mile D Shaped dirt deaman provides some of the racing action in the northeast. On Saturday night the United Racing Club will head to Thunder Mountain Speedway again where last year Cobra Chuck Hebing and 9 time URC champion Curt Michael had an epic battle of slide jobs with Michael and the Bill Gallagher owned 5G parked in victory lane at the end of the night. On Sunday night the racing will wrap up at the Utica-Rome Speedway which could be use as a test race for the following weekends Cole Cup and $10,000 to win show. The next URC points race will be a rescheduled Delaware International Speedway event on Saturday September 10th.
