Freeman notches Top-5 finish at Lavonia

The pilot of the Freeman Plumbing No. F1 Late Model, Payton Freeman, was back in action on Friday afternoon at Lavonia Speedway (Lavonia, Ga.) for the Drydene Xtreme DIRTcar Series doubleheader. With 22 Late Models entered, Freeman followed up the third-fastest lap overall in time trials with a second-place finish in his heat. Receiving the third-starting position for the opening night feature via the redraw, Payton dropped one spot in the 40-lapper to register a fifth-place finish. For another $5,000-to-win A-Main on Saturday, Payton locked into the second-starting spot for the A-Main after starting the night off with a heat race win. He salvaged a 10th-place finish in the 40-lapper after getting spun around on the eighth lap while challenging for second.
