Sportsman Mod Twin 25

The Ernie’s Discount Tools Sportsman Modifieds will take the spotlight this weekend with twin 25 lap features. In addition, the Jeffords Steel Renegades and Busch Beer Mini Mods will be in action. The mechanics will get their chance to drive the car, as they will participate in mechanics races at the end of the night.
Post time for the event is 7 p.m. with main gates opening up at 4 p.m. Pit gates will open at 3 p.m. Admission for the event will be $10/adults, $3/kids ages 6 to 12 and $22/family of two adults and two kids.
Last week, he four-time defending track champion scored his seventh win of 2016 in dominating fashion in the Sportsman Modified division.
Nick Heywood worked his way underneath Jamy Begor on lap 11 and checked out on the field. Begor, in the closing laps, battled with Danny Sullivan for the second spot. Sullivan took a look to the inside a couple times, but Begor was strong enough to hold him off. Jake Branham and Mike Wells completed the unofficial top five.
The Renegade division ran twin 20 lap features, making up for a race lost back on July 9.
In the first feature, Richie Turner collected his third checkered flag of the season. Turner started fifth on the grid and took the lead on a lap 11 restart from the outside. A lap 18 restart put point leader Robert Gordon at the door for a green-white-chekered finish. Turner drove away on the inside groove. Gordon, Brent Jarvis, Jon Boutin and Josh Terry completed the unofficial top five.
The second feature produced a new leader in the win column for Renegade division. Josh Terry threaded the needle with a three-wide move in the first five laps of the 20 lap race. Terry was in the middle of Jarvis and Michael Wright and pulled out the leader. Terry never looked back. Tylor Terry, Jarvis, Gordon and Turner completed the unofficial top five.
The Mini Mod division has a new all-time winningest driver. Dale O’Neil collected his tenth win of the season and twenty-second career win, putting him atop the win list. Tyler Irwin, Josh LaPorte, Pete Blaney and Ed Bresette rounded out the unofficial top five.
