Valvoline Iron-Man Late Model Southern Series Stars and Stripes 40 Set for Boyd’s Speedway Friday July 1
SOMERSET, KENTUCKY (June 27, 2022) – The Valvoline Iron-Man Late Model Southern Series will kick off a three-race Independence Day Weekend of racing at Boyd’s Speedway on Friday July 1 with the Stars and Stripes 40 that will pay $5,000 to win and $450 to start.
The Valvoline Iron-Man Late Model Southern Series 2022 Independence Day Weekend tripleheader features the Stars and Stripes 40 at Boyd’s Speedway in Ringgold, GA on Friday July 1, the Hall of Fame 40 at Lake Cumberland Speedway in Burnside, KY on Saturday July 2, and the Firecracker 40 at Tazewell Speedway in Tazewell, TN on Sunday July 3. All three events will pay $5,000 to win and $450 to start.
The Valvoline Iron-Man Late Model Southern Series will be in action at Boyd’s Speedway in Ringgold, GA on Friday July 1 and will see the tour featured in a full program of Practice, E-Z-GO Time Trials, Sunoco Race Fuels Heats, and the 40-lap, $5,000 to win/$450 to start Stars and Stripes 40 main event. Other divisions in action at Boyd’s Speedway on Friday July 1 will be the track’s 604 Late Models ($1,200 to win), 602 Late Models ($1,000 to win), Front Wheel Drives ($600 to win based on 22 cars), Pony ($400 to win), Crown Vics ($250 to win based on 5 cars), Beginners ($150 to win), and the evening will conclude with an Enduro ($1,000 to win). In addition, there will be a fireworks show to kick off the Fourth of July weekend to help celebrate America’s birthday.
Activities for the Stars and Stripes 40 at Boyd’s Speedway for the Stars and Stripes 40 on Friday July 1 will see the pit area open at 3:30 p.m., while the general admission area will open at 6:00 p.m. The driver’s meeting will take place at 7:15 p.m., followed by practice and time trials. Ticket prices at Boyd’s Speedway on Friday July 1 in the general admission area is $20 for adults, while a pit pass will be $40.
The Valvoline Iron-Man Late Model Series will sanction the Super Late Model portion of the event and the tire rule will be as follows: Hoosier 1350, 1600, LM40 (Crate 21 and 55 also are fine) or American Racer 48 and 56 (if the series needs to do a tire rule limiting the number of tires per night it will, but as of now the series will not be limiting the number of tires for either series; NO 29.0 size tires on the left rear; the droop rule will be in effect, along with the new standardized 2022 body rules). The entry fee will be $100 and transponders for timing/scoring will be available for rent at the track. Any driver not making the 22-car starting field at each event will receive $50 tow money.
At the inaugural Stars and Stripes 40 event at Boyd’s Speedway in 2021, veteran racer Randy Weaver of Crossville, TN would score the victory in the event over Jensen Ford of Johnson City, TN, Sam Seawright of Fort Payne, AL, Donald McIntosh of Dawsonville, GA, and Dalton Cook of Salem, AL.
