Eagle Valley UMSS Race Update

Jim Falls, Wisconsin, -The PIRTEK UMSS sprint cars made their third annual Memorial Day weekend trip to the Eagle Valley Speedway. Cam Schafer was victorious for the second consecutive night while Kevin Lear garnered his first career UMSS title in clean-sweep fashion.

In the qualifying heat races, Lear dominated behind the wheel of his #k1 hot rod in the lone winged qualifier. In Traditional competition, Rob Caho, Jr., Harry Hanson and Rick Kobs nabbed the heat race wins.

Harry Hanson and Jack Berger paced the 20-car PIRTEK UMSS Traditional starting field to green in their
25-lap main event. Hanson held the point early before sixth starting Cam Schafer worked to the front by lap nine. At the double checkers, Schafer found his #14 in the Rock Auto victory for the second year in a row at Eagle Valley. Schafer swept the weekend
after winning the previous night at Rice Lake Speedway. Behind Schafer, Hanson, Caho, Blake Anderson and Berger rounded out the top five.

The PIRTEK UMSS winged sprinters capped the night with their 20-lap finale. The winged warriors attacked
the EVS high-banks paced by Kevin Bradwell and Gunner Cummings, with Cummings quickly establishing his #7 in the lead. Cummings continually stretched his lead over Kevin Bradwell initially, then Kevin Lear, who swept past Bradwell on lap six. Unfortunately
for Cummings, he lost oil pressure at the half-way mark and pulled his hot rod into the infield to preserve his power plant. That handed the lead over to Lear who was strong and steady in completing the clean sweep for his first ever UMSS feature win. Chasing
Lear to checkers were Bradwell, Denny Stordahl, Jack Berger and Carter Chevalier.

The PIRTEK Upper Midwest Sprintcar Series is back in action Friday, June 21 through Sunday June 23. The annual “northern swing” is part of the North/South Shootout rivalry with the POWERi/Lucas Oil Northern Renegades presented by Hibbing Community College CDL program. The three night swing will have the traveling PIRTEK UMSS racers battling the Renegades on
their home turf at Gondik Law Speedway in Superior, WI, Hibbing Raceway and wrapping up on Sunday at Proctor Speedway.
