Inside Line Promotions – LAKE ODESSA, Mich. (July 5, 2016) – Caleb Helms can pinpoint a couple of changes from last weekend that would have resulted in a pair of top-10 finishes during the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions doubleheader in Michigan.

The weekend began on Saturday at Hartford Speedway in Hartford, where Helms qualified 19th quickest overall and sixth in his group. He then rallied from sixth to fourth place in a heat race, which lined him up on the outside of the eighth row for the main event.

“We made it in through the heat on Saturday, but we weren’t able to do very much in the feature,” he said. “I think we were more competitive than we’ve been lately, but we’re still struggling. It feels like we can get in the corners good, but from the center off we’re sliding across the race track.”

Helms picked up a handful of positions to close in on a top 10 before he ended 13th.

The team returned to action the following night at I-96 Speedway, where Helms timed in 11th quickest overall and second best in his group during the Tony Stewart presents the Inaugural Dirty 30 event. He finished third in a heat race, which was only one spot out of making the dash. That lined him up on the inside of the seventh row for the feature.

“We moved forward a couple of spots and then about 10 or 12 laps in I was racing a car coming off the corner,” he said. “We hit tires and I ended up spinning out. I kept going, but it put me down a lap right away. In hindsight I should have just stopped on the track to bring out a caution and restart on the lead lap.”

Helms rallied to end with a 16th-place finish.

All Star competition resumes this Saturday at Sharon Speedway in Hartford, Ohio, for the Lou Blaney Memorial.
