Inside Line Promotions – SALINA, Kan. (June 13, 2019) – Three great finishes during the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour’s Sizzlin’ Summer Speedweek has vaulted Scott Bogucki into fourth in the series’ championship standings.

The 2018 ASCS Rookie of the Year finished eighth in the standings last year, but consistent top-10 finishes has Bogucki’s SawBlade.com sponsored team confident heading into a big series of races during the next few weeks.

Bogucki’s Speedweek started on June 4 at Devil’s Bowl Speedway in Mesquite, Texas, where he posted his only ASCS National Tour feature win in 2018.

“We started on the pole, but got put back a row on the start,” he said. “I blew a brake line about five laps into the feature and had zero brakes. I was running in the top three and probably would have finished third, but a red flag with two laps to go put me in dirty air on the restart. And with no brakes, I got freight trained and finished seventh.”

Bogucki battled for a win the next night at Lawton Speedway in Lawton, Okla. He and Sam Hafertepe Jr. traded the top spot over several laps. A late-race restart gave Hafertepe Jr. clean air and Wayne Johnson was able to get around Bogucki for the runner-up result.

“I had the lead a couple of times,” he said. “It was a fun race. I’m mad at myself for letting Wayne get around me on that restart.”

Following a rainout at Creek County Speedway in Sapulpa, Okla., Bogucki and the SawBlade.com team headed to Salina Speedway last Saturday for the Speedweek finale.

“I won the heat going away and that put us in the redraw,” he said. “My luck with the redraw hasn’t been good and I drew the No. 7. The track took rubber in the heats so it was pretty much follow the leader in the feature and I ended up sixth.

“Still, we’re fourth in points and I’m determined to stay in the top five the rest of the year.”

The ASCS National Tour travels to South Dakota for a pair of events this Friday at Brown County Speedway in Aberdeen and Saturday at Black Hills Speedway in Rapid City. Then the series travels west to Washington and Montana for nine events from June 20 to July 20.

“We finished like sixth or seventh at (Brown County Speedway) last year,” he said. “I’ve never laid eyes on Black Hills Speedway though. I’m looking forward to the western swing. I love that area of the country. It’s beautiful and I get to be a tourist for a few weeks.”
