Lucas Oil Speedway quiet this weekend before busy final half of August

WHEATLAND, MO. (Aug. 5, 2025) - Lucas Oil Speedway is taking this weekend off before a busy final half of August awaits with a wide variety of racing ahead on the dirt track, off road course and Lake Lucas.

First up the weekend of Aug. 15-16 is the 14th annual Impact Signs, Awnings & Wraps Open Wheel Showdown Presented by Heritage Tractor. The Saturday, Aug. 16 event will feature a triple header of open-wheel divisions on the oval with the POWRi 410 Wing Sprints, POWRi WAR Non-Wing Sprint and the POWRi 305 Wing Sprints.

Pit and spectator gates open at 4 p.m. on Aug. 16 with hot laps at 6 and racing to follow.

Things also will be going strong next door on the off road course on both Aug. 15th and 16th with Round 4 of the UTV Side-by-Side Short Course action. Practice sessions are set for the first day from 12:25 p.m.-4:15 p.m. and racing on Saturday starting at 8 a.m. Pit and spectator gates open at 7 a.m. Times are tentative.

Short-course classes will include 200 stock: ages 5-12; 200 limited: ages 5-12; 250 modified: ages 7-12; 700cc and under: ages 10-15; youth 1k: ages 13-17; sportsman na: ages 14 and up; sportsman turbo: ages 14 and up; women’s na: ages 13 and up; women's fi: ages 13 and up; vet na: ages 40 and up; vet fi: ages 40 and up; pro-am na: ages 18 and up; pro-am turbo: ages 18 and up; pro na: ages 18 and up; pro turbo: ages 18 and up.

Season Championship Night: Champions will be crowned in each of the Pitts Homes and Realty Weekly Racing Series five divisions at Rempfer Memorial Season Championship Presented by Bill Roberts Chevrolet on Aug. 23rd.

Classes in action will be the Hermitage Lumber Late Models, Arctic Food Equipment USRA Modifieds, O'Reilly Auto Parts USRA Stock Cars, Hickamo Super Stocks and the Clear Creek Golf Cars USRA B-Mods.

Pit and spectator gates open at 4 p.m. with hot laps at 6:30 and racing at 7:05.

Labor Day Weekend twin bill: The 11th annual Ron Jenkins Memorial brings the COMP Cams Super Dirt Late Model Series in for a two-night show Aug. 29-30. Night One will find a $7,000-to-win feature plus a $2,000 bonus, plus another $500 bonus for fast qualifier, courtesy of Mary Jenkins Holt in honor of the late Ron Jenkins, builder of the original Wheatland Raceway.

The Hickamo Super Stocks will also be in action as the drivers battle for $500-to-win with the Show Me Vintage Racers also in action.

On Aug. 30th, the Comp Cams Late Models will battle it out in a $12,000-to-win feature with Mary Jenkins Holt again adding a $2,000 bonus to the winner and a $500 fast-time qualifier bonus. The Hickamo Super Stocks will race for a $750 top prize with the SMVR returning as well.

Pit and spectator gates open at 4 p.m. both days with hot laps at 6:30 and racing at 7:05.

Drag boats return to Lake Lucas for their biggest event of the season, the three-day 15th annual Diamond Drag Boat Nationals. Qualifying for the Kentucky Drag Boat Association event is set for Aug. 29-30 with the elimination rounds on Sunday, Aug. 31. A three-day pit pass is offered for $100 and that includes dirt-track admission for both nights of the Ron Jenkins Memorial.
