Carson Freeman Picks up Second Sport Mod Feature Win!
Carson Freeman won the Sport Modified Feature the last time they competed at Lawrenceburg. For most of the 15-lap feature, it looked like Casey Ulm was going to grab his first modified feature win at Lawrenceburg. As the laps counted down, Freeman caught Ulm and the two traded the lead several times, throwing slide jobs at each other lap after lap. It was a thrilling race which kept the fans on the edge of their seats, and no one knew who would win until the leaders crossed the checkered flag. Freeman was able to just beat Ulm back to the line for the win. Following Freeman and Ulm across the line were Josh Tidwell, Hunter Conley, and Mathew Watson, Jr. Casey Ulm won the heat race. The Sport Modifieds return to Lawrenceburg on Saturday August 16th.
Chevy Gibson Finally Gets Feature Win at Lawrenceburg!
Chevy Gibson used the high side of the racetrack as he advanced through the field from his 3rd starting spot to grab the feature win. It doesn’t seem like many cars to pass, but with the Lawrence Motorsports Trailer Sales Hornets being very competitive, finding a fast lane around the track that other drivers aren’t using is key to being successful. Gibson found the high line the quickest way around the Lawrenceburg Speedway. He was able to pass race leader Kevin McCoy on the high side. After grabbing the lead, he was not able to pull away from McCoy. McCoy, a very successful hornet driver could pull along side Gibson with the two racing side by side for much of the final laps. Gibson was able to race back to the line first grabbing is first career feature win at Lawrenceburg. McCoy finished second, followed by Caleb Humphries, Alex West and Ryan Paciocco. The heat race winner was Alex West. The Lawrence Motorsports Trailer Sales Hornets return to the track on Saturday August 16th.
Partin Wins Legend Car Feature!
Peebles, Ohio grabbed the checkered flag in the Ohio Valley Legend Car Series Feature after the leaders crashed out on the white flag lap. Although Partin said he didn’t deserve to win, sometimes it’s better to be lucky than good, and this was an example of being lucky. Partin was still one of the quicker cars all night but didn’t appear to have the fastest Legend Car. The lead and race win were contested between five or six different drivers throughout much of the event. When the white flag waved, Quade Schoonover and Evan Kennemore were racing for the win with Partin in third. Kennemore went to the inside of Schoonover in turn 2 and there was contact and Kennemore ended up driving over the back of Schoonover causing both to stop on the track. It was a hard racing incident where two drivers appeared going for the win and they just ran out of racetrack. This turned the lead over to Partin who led 1 lap on the ensuing restart to grab the feature win. The rest of the top were Ryan Swisshelm, Nathan Kennemore, Colton Brock, and Joe Warning. Heat race winners were Schoonover and Partin.
Jacob Kruetzkamp Wins First Crown Vic Feature!
There were twenty-five Crown Vics at Lawrenceburg battling for the win. The last time the Crown Vics were at Lawrenceburg, Brandon Cranmer won the feature over his dad Michael Cranmer. On this night, Michael Cranmer appeared to be poised for the win. As we had seen in previous races on the same night, the outside lane proved to be extremely fast. Jacob Kruetzkamp admitted that he had seen the Hornet class cars using the high side so he thought he would give it a try. Well, the high side obviously worked for Krueztkamp, as he was able to grab the lead and win the feature. Michael Cranmer finished second followed by Gavin Fields, Brandon Cranmer, and Jason Basham. Heat race winners were Gavin Fields, Michael Cranmer, and Geremy Hays. The Crown Vics return to the track on Saturday August 16th.
