Rodgers and Foxworthy Put on Another Classic at LPS
We had 15 Bombers enter the pits Friday night and it would be another instant classic. Katie Grigsby and Josh Foxworthy were the fast times in each of their groups. Heat race 1 had Brad Davis from the front row take the lead and he would look strong and hold off Josh Wallace, David Bumgardner and Mike Vancleave for the win. Heat race 2 Tyler Rodgers took the 11T from the pole to win the heat over Josh Vancleave, Josh Foxworthy and Randy Foxworthy. This setup the A main 15 lap showdown and Josh Foxworthy would look very strong early in the feature taking the lead. The race back from 3rd thru 8th most of the race had Bombers going 3 wide battling positions. Tyler Rodgers had worked his way from 4th up to 2nd but Josh’s lead was still decent but the caution would come out with just a few laps left. This would bunch things up and we were in for a great battle to end the night that had 106 cars in the pits. On the restart the 11T seemed to find the low line with a lot of traction and he was able to take the lead from Josh and go on for the victory. These Bombers put on an amazing show at LPS every night and the 11T and 38 show how strong they are every week and it is a great battle. You can tell how close they are by looking at the points also there is 1 point difference between them. Thanks to all the Bomber teams for putting on another classic.
The UMP Mods were packed in the pits with an amazing field of talent 28 strong. This was a field full of strong cars almost like what we get for the Buckeye Bob show coming up. Matt Mitchell, Derek Losh and Derek Groomer set the fast times in their groups. The heats were won by Jarod Deckard, Tyler Loughmiller and James Walters. The final chance to get in the show during the B main was won by Dustin Bruce. The top 6 redrew for the feature and it would be Derek Groomer and James Walters on the front row. This would be another great 20 lap battle with drivers from California, Ohio, Illinois and Indiana. Derek and James had a great battle early with Tyler Loughmiller and Derek Losh battling it out in the 2nd row. Derek Losh made some early moves and was able to get to the front about the halfway point to take the lead from Derek and James. Their were some fierce battles with slide jobs and all from positions 5 thru 15 throughout the whole battle. Derek Losh when he took the lead started to get into lapped traffic and on the final 3 laps he had already lapped up to 12th place and their was some great talent in those places. Derek Losh would hold on for the big win his 1st night at LPS for the year over James Walters, Derek Groomer, Tyler Loughmiller, Jarod Deckard, Race Liberante, Jim Mallery, Matt Mitchell, Sydney Landes and Landon Barker. Thanks so much to all 28 teams for putting on an outstanding show and we sure did miss this class a lot with unfortunately having 7 rainouts already this season.
The UMP Super Stocks had an awesome field also with cars from the Brownstown and Paragon Speedways with the Friday night show. They put on a great battle also with the fast times going to Wes McClara, Hayden Groomer and Isiaiah Sasser. The 3 heats were won by Zach Sasser, Devin Wallen and Nick Kinnett. The B main last chance to get in was won by Illinois shoe Derek Hufford. This setup the 20 lap A main and drawing the front row was Zach Sasser and Devin Wallen. These 2 had an epic battle throughout the feature and Zach Sasser ended up taking the big win over Wes McClara, Hayden Groomer, Jordan Almanza and Wade Goodale rounding out the top 5. Thanks again to all the teams for an outstanding show and the POWRI group for a very strong 41 car field. It was great to see 106 cars fill the pits at LPS for finally a sunny day on what has been a gloomy weather start in 2025. We are back this Saturday for a regular show and next weekend for the July 4th weekend it is the double USAC nights which will have great support classes each night. See you at LPS this Saturday night where the curb was awesome again and about as tall as a chair if after the races you want to walk down to see it or just sit on top of it like a home built chair the 41 sprint cars built!!!
