Super Late Models Set to Blister High Banks
Magic Valley Speedway honors its history and races into the future Saturday, August 16, as the Northwest Super Late Model Series invades the one-third mile asphalt oval for the Magic Valley Motorsports Hall of Fame 150. Alongside the apex of full-bodied stock car technology, the NASCAR Trucks, McDonald’s Street Stocks, Budweiser Thunderdogs, and Fast Lane Automotive Hornets strap in for a full night of thrills and spills in pursuit of the night’s DataTel trophies.
The Northwest Super Late Model Series roars onto the high banks with 150 laps to settle a tight battle at the head of the standings. Ken Bonney leads the division in his number 3K machine, but faces a tough foe in Ryan Phipps, who trails by just a single point. Watch for Phipps to push his number 5P machine hard to not only take the home track win, but also the standings lead.
Neil Boyle leads the NASCAR Trucks into battle Saturday night. Boyle leads second-place runner Jesse James Lawson by 28 points and third-place Jeff Wade by 43. Can Boyle fend off the hard-charging Lawson and Wade, or will Saturday night’s action end with a new face atop the standings?
The closest point battle on the third-mile is between McDonald’s Street Stock competitors Ronn McClimans and Zaine Newberry, who enter Magic Valley Motorsports Hall of Fame 150 night tied atop the division. While McClimans has more feature wins than Newberry, Zaine has killed with consistency and is the only driver to score a top-5 finish in each and every race thus far. Keep your eyes peeled to see who will break the deadlock and take control of the division.
Fast Lane Automotive Hornet racer Dusty Sterner has settled into the division point lead. Sterner enters Saturday night’s action with an 84 point lead over Alex Fitterman, thanks in large part to his four victories in five features. Can anyone stop Sterner from scoring his fifth victory of the season?
The Enforcer took a big bite out of Budweiser Thunderdog point leader Knight Rider’s advantage in the division’s most recent duel. Even with his feature win, The Enforcer still trails Knight Rider by 56 markers, a significant but not insurmountable gap. Watch for The Enforcer to continue his hot streak and take another step towards the top of the standings.
General admission to the Magic Valley Motorsports Hall of Fame 150 is just $14 for adults, $12 for seniors and military members, $8 for kids 7-11, and free for kids 6 and under.
