July 28th Racing Action

Racing action returned to the Murray County Speedway this past Friday night. Along with the usual classes, the Late Model Street Stocks made their second appearance at the track this year. Racing action was sponsored by Woodstock Communications.

S&S Electric MCRA Pickups
First to take the track were the pickups. 8 trucks made the call for the feature with Craig Gertsema leading the field to the green. On the start, Gertsema kept the lead. Scott Stirn quickly challenged and took away the lead. Jordan Rolling followed and challenged for the lead. Rolling secured the lead from Stirn. Jordan Rolling went on to take the win. Scott Stirn finished second, Matt Odom finished third, and Dan Jensen finished fourth.

Plaid Moose Café IMCA Sport Compact
Next up were the sport compacts. 12 cars made the call for the 10 lap feature with Robert Pottratz leading the field to the green. On the start, Kent Miller and Josh Uhl battled for the lead. Uhl was able to secure the race lead and quickly pulled away from the field. Behind him, Matt Smith and Austin Friedrich battled for third. Friedrich secured third and tried to gain ground. Josh Uhl went on to take the feature win. Kent Miller finished second, Austin Friedrich finished third, and Tori Groebner finished fourth.

Legend Seeds Hobby Stocks
Next up were the hobby stocks. 13 cars made the call for the 15 lap feature with Jeremy Johnson leading to the green. On the start, Johnson took the race lead. John Ross quickly made his way to second and began to challenge for the lead. After an early caution, Ross took over the lead. Eric Gillette followed him through and quickly challenged. Cory Probst and Trevor Holm began to battle Gillette for second. Probst was able to secure second. Holm followed him and quickly challenged. Probst held on to second and began to challenge for the lead. John Ross held on to take the feature win. Cory Probst finished second, Trevor Holm finished third, and Eric Gillette finished fourth.

Sturdevant’s Auto Supply Sport Modifieds
Next up were the sport modifieds. 15 cars made the call for the 15 lap feature with Dan Paplow leading to the green. On the start, Paplow kept the race lead. Tony Rialson quickly got to second and began to challenge for the lead. Problems for Rialson brought out the caution. On the restart, Paplow kept the lead. Behind him, Danny Myrvold got to second and looked to challenge. He ran out of time as Paplow went on to take the feature win. Danny Myrvold finished second, Cole Bents finished third, and Matt Looft finished fourth.

Car Toyz Stock Cars
Next up were the stock cars. 5 cars made the call for the 15 lap feature with Gary Mattison leading to the green. On the start, Mattison kept lead. Behind him, they were 3 wide for second. Contact between them brought out the caution. On the restart, Nick Johansen took over the race lead. Problems for Mattison caused him to roll numerous times bringing out the red flag. Mattison was okay after the roll. On the restart, Johansen kept the lead. Nick Johansen went on to take the feature win. Jake Bruns finished second, Kevin Debaere finished third, and Mike Carlson finished fourth.

RH Sealcoating & Asphalt IMCA Modifieds
Next up were the modifieds. 17 cars made the call for the 20 lap feature win Zach Van Voorst leading the field to green. On the start, Van Voorst kept the race lead. Jesse Rogotzke quickly got to second and began to challenge. Don Geritsen caught Rogotzke and began to battle him for second. As this happened, Van Voorst pulled away. Rogotzke reeled in Van Voorst and began to challenge. Problems in the field resulted in Jason Fisher rolling his car. Fisher was okay after the roll. On the restart, Tyler Limoges, who had made his way to the front from deep in the field, took over the race lead. Tyler Limoges would go on to take the feature win. Don Geritsen finished second, Dalton Magers finished third, and Zach Van Voorst finished fourth.

Tailgators Grill & Bar LMSS Touring Series
Last up on the night were the late model street stocks. 14 cars made the call for the 18 lap feature with Jim Pruett leading to the green. On the start, Pruett kept the lead. Darrin Korthals quickly made his way from 8th to second and quickly began to challenge for the lead. Contact in the front of the pack resulted in Pruett spinning and bringing out the caution. Due to this, Korthals was the new race leader. On the restart, Korthals checked out and distanced himself from the field. Korthals went on to take the feature win. Blair Nothdurft finished second, Cory Yeigh finished third, and Tim Dann finished fourth.

Racing action will return next Friday night with all the usual classes featured. Along with this, it will be kids night at the track. Racing action will be sponsored by DeBoer Chevrolet of Edgerton.
