CREEK COUNTY & I-44 UP NEXT FOR POWRi WEST

BELLEVILLE, ILL. (July 22, 2019) – The POWRi Lucas Oil West Midget League fires back off this weekend with a doubleheader of the Oklahoma Midget Nationals. The action kicks off on Friday, July 26 with a trip to Creek County Speedway in Sapulpa, Okla. followed by a stop at I-44 Riverside Speedway in Oklahoma City, Okla. on Saturday, July 27.

In the opening 15 races of the year, Andrew Felker of Carl Junction, Mo. has built a dominant point lead and grabbed firm control of the championship chase. Piloting the Chad Shields Racing, MelMark Pipe & Supply, Ripper/Fontana No. 44S, Felker is the only driver to have qualified for all 15 features thus far. The 2012 POWRi National Midget champion currently holds a 990-point lead on the strength of three victories and seven top five finishes.

Chasing Felker in the points entering the weekend is Hank Davis of Sand Springs, Okla. (-990), Chance Morton of Coweta, Okla. (-1370), Cannon McIntosh of Bixby, Okla. (-2200) and Blake Edwards of Claremore, Okla. (-2410).

Friday’s appearance at Creek County will mark the third solo show for the West Midgets at the Sapulpa, Okla. facility this year. Back in April, Jonathan Beason topped Cannon McIntosh and Tyler Thomas while it was Thomas beating McIntosh and Beason in the June event.

A pair of dates at I-44 Riverside Speedway were washed away due to rain, marking Saturday’s trip down the turnpike as the first solo race of the season for the POWRi West Midgets in Oklahoma City.
