FELKER ADDS ANOTHER POWRi WEST WIN AT I-44

OKLAHOMA CITY, OKLA. (July 27, 2019) – Continuing his stellar championship or bust campaign, Andrew Felker of Carl Junction, Mo. added another POWRi Lucas Oil West Midget League win on Saturday night at I-44 Riverside Speedway. Piloting the Chad Shields Racing, MelMark Pipe & Supply, Ripper/Fontana No. 44S, Felker executed a late-race move on Blake Edwards to secure his fourth win of the year.

Earning high point man honors with a seventh-to-third heat race run, Blake Edwards of Claremore, Okla. ended up on the pole position of the 25-lap main event. However, it was Felker, who was on the outside pole, that bolted to the initial lead.

Leading the opening five laps, near-disaster struck when a lap traffic incident forced Felker all the way back to seventh. While Edwards assumed the lead, Felker came roaring back through the field and was ready to challenge for the lead down the stretch.

Waiting to strike in the second half, Felker made his move on Edwards with the laps winding down and the win on the line. Stealing the top spot away and holding command until the checkered flag, Felker finished the feature with his fourth POWRi West victory of the season, a run that extends his points lead over Hank Davis to 990-points.

Edwards stayed put to snag a strong second-place result, Davis rounded out the podium with a consistent third-place effort, and Matt Sherrell and Noah Gass closed out the top five. Also finishing inside the top ten at I-44 was Michelle Decker in sixth, Kade Morton in seventh, Pierce Urbanosky in eighth, Hunter Fischer in ninth and Doug McCune in tenth.

Felker (Smith Titanium Heat 1) and Sherrell (Keizer Wheels Heat 2) picked up heat race wins over the 16-car field.

This weekend, the POWRi West Midgets will join forces with the POWRi National Midgets for an annual trek to Pevely, Missouri’s Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55 for the annual Ironman weekend alongside the World of Outlaws Sprint Cars.
