26 Promotions – Las Vegas, NV – (May 23rd, 2017) – Dylan Cappello and the rest of the Lucas Oil Modified Series presented by RAM Mounts drivers invaded the Bullring at Las Vegas Motor Speedway over the weekend for the third event of the championship season.

The weekend kicked off on Friday night with four practice sessions for the Lucas Oil Modifieds. Cappello didn’t record a lap in the first session, put down the sixth fastest lap in session two and ran the fifth quickest lap in session three and four to wrap up the night.

“We unloaded decent on old tires,” said Cappello. “We struggled to get the car to finish cutting in the center which was hurting our drive off.”

After a Friday night strategy session over dinner, Cappello and the Team RBK crew adjusted on the car Saturday where The Hitman was fifth in practice session one and laid down the second fastest lap in final practice prior to qualifying.

Cappello’s fastest qualifying lap of 15.312 was good enough for sixth. Fortunately, the invert worked in his favor and he’d line up on the pole for both the Dash and the 75-lap Feature.

The Hitman used the 6-lap Dash as a test session for the Feature. He’d lead all six laps, winning the Dash by just under a second to pick up the $500 prize.

“We made a last second adjustment that really helped the car quite a bit,” explained Cappello. “Rolling out for the Main Event I felt very confident that my guys gave me a good piece to contend for the win.”

Cappello didn’t face much pressure over the course of the Feature. He’d continue to pull out to about a two to three car length advantage after each restart over second before a caution would bunch the field back up one more time. The last restart came on lap 49 and Cappello knew immediately something wasn’t right.

“Going into turn one on the last restart I knew we had a problem,” he said. “The brakes just didn’t feel the same. We were still able to hold on to the lead for 17 laps before getting passed.”

With the brakes not operating consistently in the final laps, Cappello hung on to cross the checkered flag in sixth.

“We came in with half the heat we should’ve had in the front brakes,” he explained. “It’s tough to lead for that long and have a good enough race car to win the race.”

The Lucas Oil Modified Series presented by RAM Mounts heads to Madera Speedway in Northern California on June 10th for round four of the championship season.

Dylan Cappello would like to thank Ram Mounts, Sears Garage Doors, Spray Nine, Driven Motorsport, Team RBK, Pro Power Racing Engines, Total Power Batteries, Roger Seymour Photography and Bilstein Shocks for their continued support.
