Inside Line Promotions – DODGE CITY, Kan. (Oct. 23, 2018) – Jason Sides highlighted last weekend’s World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series doubleheader in Kansas with a seventh-place run on Friday during the FVP Platinum Battery Shootout.

Lakeside Speedway in Kansas City hosted the event, which began with Sides qualifying second quickest. He then won a heat race to advance into the dash. Unfortunately, he pulled the highest number – six – before finishing the dash where he started. That lined him up on the outside of the third row for the A Main.

“It was really good,” he said. “We hadn’t really done anything different, but it seemed to work good that night. To run sixth in the dash, it wasn’t a bad sixth. We were racing with Shane (Stewart). I felt like we were pretty decent and we’d be good for the feature. When they dropped the green it started off really good. After the caution it wasn’t as good anymore. The car was a little bit loose and the longer we raced it got more loose trying to hit the bottom. When we came in the left rear tire shrank a little and we came in with more stagger than we went out with. It was still good, but I wonder if we had the same stagger that we left with if we’d have stayed in the top five.”

Sides hustled into the top five early, climbing as high as third, and he spent most of the race in the top five before losing a couple of spots late in the feature. His seventh-place finish marked the 15th top 10 of the season for Sides Motorsports.

The weekend wrapped up on Saturday at Dodge City Raceway Park for the Outlaw Boot Hill Showdown. Sides qualified fourth quickest, but missed a spot into the dash by only one position after placing third in a heat race.

Sides capped the night with a 12th-place result in the main event. It marked only the second time in his last 15 races at the track that he didn’t finish in the top six.

“I had such a good run on the start that I got to about fourth or fifth,” he said. “When I got to the first corner it was like I was driving a dump truck and it didn’t want to turn. It pushed up so hard and wouldn’t turn. Seven or eight cars went by. From there it was playing catch up. I’m pretty sure we could have had a top five if that hadn’t happened.”

Sides heads east to compete this Friday and Saturday at Port Royal Speedway in Port Royal, Pa., during the Tuscarora 50 with the World of Outlaws. His best result in the recent string of Outlaws races at the half-mile oval was last year when he placed 15th.

“I think it will be good,” he said. “I hope the weather holds out. With all the improvements they’ve done it seemed like last year it raced pretty good. Hopefully we can get through there with a good run.”
