Chase Holland
Holland’s season rolls on with trio of starts at Illinois tracks
On the last weekend in September, Chase Holland competed in three events in the Land of Lincoln with varying results aboard his Bandit CrossFit No. 45 Modified.
Holland was originally slated to race with the MARS Modified Championship on Thursday, the first night of the 21st annual Summit Racing Equipment Modified Mania at Tri-City Speedway. However, the kickoff to the three-night event at the 3/8-mile track in Granite City, Illinois, was rained out. As a result, Holland first took to the Tri-City facility as part of a 45-car field on Friday.
He qualified sixth in his group on Friday evening and both started and finished third in his heat race. However, he elected not to start the 25-lap, $3,000-to-win feature.
With wet weather and a rough track also nixing the final night of Modified Mania at Tri-City Speedway on Saturday, Holland moved on to the 1/5-mile Macon (Illinois) Speedway. He was part of a 24-car Modified field in the track’s Season Championship event. Holland qualified with the quickest time in his group and won his heat from the pole. He started second in the 20-lap feature and was out front for multiple laps before finishing 12th.
Holland concluded his weekend on Sunday at Mattoon, Illinois’ Coles County Speedway with the Road to the Dome Invitational. Twenty-six Modfieds were at the 1/8-mile track for the $2,000-to-win program. After qualifying 11th in his group, Holland recorded a fifth-place result with a DNF in his heat race. He then started third in his B-Main but again was unable to finish and was scored seventh. As a result, his night came to a close in advance of the 25-lap feature.
