Troutman runner-up in Battle at the Border at Sharon Speedway
Drake Troutman unloaded the G.R. Smith Motorsports No. 22 machine at Sharon Speedway (Hartford, Ohio) on Friday afternoon for the World of Outlaws Real American Beer Late Model Series-sanctioned Battle at the Border.
With just under 40 entries on hand, Troutman picked up a heat race win and redrew the third-starting position for the $12,000-to-win opener. Drake ran inside the Top-3 during the 40-lap feature and wound up second to Bobby Pierce. Brian Shirley, Ryan Gustin, and Nick Hoffman completed the Top-5.
Troutman didn't find the same success on Saturday evening, but still managed a Top-10 finish making up three spots in the $15,000 finale to finish sixth.
The Team 22 crew attempted to make the DIRTcar Summer Nationals finale at Wayne County Speedway (Orrville, Ohio) on Sunday, but fell back in their heat race and did not start the last chance showdown.
Troutman is still fourth in the series point standings.
