National Tour Win for Bakker

A field of 26 drivers was in attendance at the Mason City Motor Speedway for the ASCS National Tour series’ first trip. Gregg Bakker has been close over the years, but Sunday night at Mason City Motor Speedway, the South Dakota SCHNEE driver finally rolled to the checkered flag first with the American Sprint Car Series National Tour. Having won the heat race Gregg lead start to finish using the low side of the Speedway to his advantage. “I was watching the track earlier and the Street Stocks and Modifieds started moving to the top and I thought that might come in so on my warm up lap, I went to the top and thought this isn’t the place to be, but when you get into traffic, you don’t know how much the guys behind you are moving around and if the rubber is getting wider to where they can sneak by.”

Picking up his sixth victory of the 2017 season, El Paso’s John Carney II piloted the Lubbock Wrecker Service No. 11x EAGLE to a $2,500 payday to open up the Summer Sizzle at the Southern New Mexico Speedway with the ASCS Southwest Region. Through several opening race cautions, each restart saw Carney moving forward with the No. 11x up to third from eighth by the second lap. Rolling into traffic once more with ten laps to run, Carney peddled the bottom through the third and fourth turn and took the lead. From there, John went unchallenged to win the race.

IL Speedweek opened at Jacksonville Speedway with the MOWA Sprints. A pair of EAGLES dominated the race ahead of a talented field. It was Rico Abreu finishing ahead of Zach Daum to give EMi the 1-2 positions and set the tone for the remainder of Speedweek.

Ron Love became the twelfth different winner this season at Eagle Raceway. While “trying to run the wheels off of it” he won. In his third year of competition within the RaceSaver 305 division Ron is one of three others who have now earned their first win this season. Great momentum in preparation for the Nationals. His EAGLE car is tuned and prepared by a tight family unit thanking brothers Roger and Ken, and nephew Kellen.
