Inside Line Promotions – KNOXVILLE, Iowa (June 15, 2021) – Roger Crockett posted his best result at Knoxville Raceway in nearly eight years last Saturday when he recorded a sixth-place finish during the 360ci winged sprint car feature.

Crockett, who has only been able to race in select events at ‘The Sprint Car Capital of the World’ during his career, recorded a fourth-place finish in 410ci sprint car competition in August 2013. His previous best 360 outing at Knoxville Raceway came in August 2012 when he was fourth during his 360 Knoxville Nationals preliminary night prior to a fifth-place run during the finale.

“We haven’t got to race there very often,” he said. “We wanted to run both nights with the World of Outlaws, but we ran out of time so we ended up leaving the 360 in.”

Last Saturday began on a strong note as Crockett qualified fourth quickest at the half-mile oval. A fifth-place result in a heat race locked him into the feature inversion, which lined him up on the outside of the third row for the main event.

Crockett lost a couple of positions early before rebounding as the race went on to reclaim sixth by the time the checkered flag was waved.

“I feel good about it,” he said. “We qualified well and I felt terrible. I know my car could be way better. We fought the car all night until the feature. I had little confidence in the car that I didn’t drive it very good at the beginning. Once I got it figured out and we got rolling we had the fastest lap of the race. That doesn’t pay anything, but it’s a good boost.

“I’ve always thought Knoxville was one of the toughest places to go race. It’s extremely tough. Those guys who race there every week have such a great advantage. We go there and it’s so different from everywhere we race. The plan is to go back there this week. We’ll run the 360 on Friday and I’d like to run the 410 on Saturday.”
