Brandon Sheppard Shines in CMH Diamond Nationals at Lucas Oil Speedway
Illinois Racer Collects $25,000 LOLMDS Payday
SHINNSTON, W.Va. (07/14/25) – Brandon Sheppard continued his summer surge with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) with a $25,000 victory in Saturday night’s CMH Diamond Nationals finale at Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Missouri—his second LOLMDS win in just nine days.
Driving the Valvoline / Seubert Calf Ranches No. 1 Rocket1 Racing / Ace Metal Works Rocket Chassis Super Late Model, Sheppard recorded his 34th career series triumph, tying Josh Richards for eighth on the tour’s all-time wins list.
"It was an awesome track both nights this weekend," Sheppard said. "They did a heck of a job with it. We're just super happy and super thankful to be here in victory lane. Hopefully we can keep building off we've got here and have some consistency."
The Rocket1 Racing team kicked off the weekend on Thursday at 34 Raceway with a $15,000-to-win program. After getting collected in a lap-five tangle involving multiple cars, Sheppard rebounded to finish ninth in the 50-lap opener.
He followed up with a solid 10th-place finish in Friday’s Diamond Nationals preliminary feature at Lucas Oil Speedway, then set the tone on Saturday by clocking his fastest qualifying time of the weekend and notching a second-place finish in his heat race. Rolling off from the outside of row three in the main event, Sheppard drove around Gordy Gundaker to take the lead on lap 15 and pulled away to claim the $25,000 payday—his first career CMH Diamond Nationals victory.
“This place has haunted me in my dreams many times,” Sheppard noted in victory lane. “We finished second at the Show-Me in 2021. I’ve performed well here before. The track is very tricky and hit or miss. It requires different skills than your average race track. We’re still figuring out this new car. We're improving our consistency by trying different things each night and building on a program we’ve grown to be good at here.”
With his latest win, Sheppard currently sits sixth in the LOLMDS championship standings.

Up next, the LOLMDS returns to action Tuesday at Shelby County Speedway (Iowa) for the Kosiski Family 53. The week concludes at Huset’s Speedway (Brandon, S.D.) with the 15th annual Silver Dollar Nationals presented by MyRacePass, running Thursday through Saturday, headlined by a $75,000-to-win finale on Saturday night.
