Inside Line Promotions – SELINSGROVE, Pa. (Sept. 16, 2019) – Misfortune unraveled a pair of promising nights for Trey Starks last weekend.

The Gobrecht Motorsports driver put himself in position of starting inside the top 10 during main event action on Friday at Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg, Pa., and on Saturday at Selinsgrove Speedway, but a mechanical failure resulted in a DNF each night.

“A mechanical problem ended both nights while we were having great runs,” he said. “Hopefully we can turn things around and have some good runs again this weekend. We’ve had really fast cars lately.”

Starks qualified second quickest before he advanced from fourth to second place on Friday at Williams Grove Speedway. The feature redraw lined him up on the outside of the third row, but the night ended on Lap 21 while he was running inside the top five. He was credited with a 19th-place result.

The weekend wrapped up on Saturday during the Jim Nace Memorial 37th annual National Open presented by Red Robin at Selinsgrove Speedway. Starks timed in eighth quickest in qualifying. A third-place run in the heat race gave him the ninth starting position for the main event. However, he exited the track on Lap 8.

“We qualified decent, but unfortunately in the heat we had a wing come apart on us,” he said. “We kind of had issues all night. We salvaged a third-place finish in the heat to transfer into the feature. The car was lightning fast in the feature. It seems like when the track is a little heavier I always seem to find a clear path there. We passed probably four cars on the start. We were running fifth when we broke only a few laps into the race. We were super fast and the car was great.”

Next up for the team will be a four-race weekend with shows on Thursday at BAPS Motor Speedway in York Haven, Pa.; on Friday at Williams Grove Speedway; on Saturday at Lincoln Speedway in Abbottstown, Pa.; and Sunday at Hagerstown Speedway in Hagerstown, Md. The final three races are with the Ollie’s Bargain Outlet All Star Circuit of Champions.
