Driver Information

Frank always had a zest for anything with an engine and owned his first vehicle, a 1949 willys pickup truck at the age of 10 and has been a gear head since. Atv's motorcycles, go karts and cars have been a part of his life since childhood. Frank started racing by helping a few race teams around the dirt tracks in northeast PA, quickly realizing that he wanted to do more than help, Frank decided in 1995 that driving was something to try and was on the dirt surface at Moc a tek speedway and won his first event (a consolation race to make the main event), the bug was set and the lifelong addiction to motorsports was on. Frank won a few heats and raced a new car the following year and was able to win his first feature race on August 17th 1996.

Frank returned to Moc a tek speedway in 1997 for what would be the season of a lifetime, winning 8 feature races and 10 heat races, the season championship title and most popular driver award.

In 1999 Frank and the team built a new dirt street stock and went back to moc a tek speedway and was set to be a force but mechanical problems sidelined the team, a decision to try something new was made and we took that dirt street stock and made it into a pavement late model to compete at Mahoning Valley Speedway and after just 8 weeks of competition on pavement Frank was able to pull off the impossible, a win with a dirt street stock against pavement late models, it was a monumental moment that won't be forgotten.
On to the year 2000 when frank and the team built a true asphalt late model and set out on a battle for the points championship at Mahoning Valley Speedway, swapping the points lead all year long with fierce competitor Nate Correll, who was the points champion for the season, our team finished a very respectable 2nd in points.

Del Nero racing then went on to race 3 other late models on pavement at Mahoning Valley Speedway and Evergreen speedway, raced legends cars, enduros and 4 cylinder dirt cars.

Fast forward to 2020, 25 years after the first year Frank raced and it only seemed right to give it another shot. Life is different now, Life is good.

After a few years of pavement street stock racing at Evergreen, Mahoning Valley and Bethel and a few wins, Frank built a Port City Super Late Model and competed for a season before becoming discouraged with the state of racing on the pavement and decided to return to his roots with a dirt factory stock to race at Penn can and Thunder mountain for 2025
