Becky Alcock Memorial - Hall, Alcock & M. McDonald Claim Feature Wins

Racing returned to Lake of the Woods Speedway for the Becky Alcock Memorial and Meet the Drivers on July 20. Fans were able to honour and remember Becky’s contributions to the racing community and the community as a whole. Afterwards, fans were invited to meet the drivers.

The heats soon got under way with the Q104 Limited Stocks. In heat one, Bryson McDonald and Morgan McDonald sorted out the top two with the other brother of Logan McDonald finishing third. In the second heat, it was all Michael Copp with Dave Rogers in second and George Darling finishing third.

In the feature, Bryson and Morgan had side by side lap after lap with Bryson leading by just a bumper or so for much of the race. Tthings changed rapidly coming up to lap traffic. Morgan was able to duck around and take the lead with just a couple laps left to claim his third win in a row!

In the Riverview Industries WISSOTA Midwest Modifieds heat one, Keelan Hall claimed the win. Second place was a battle with Christopher Leek and Nick Audette. Leek had second for the majority of the laps but Audette was able to sneak by coming to the checkers by a bumper. In heat two, Tyler Doell took the lead at the green and held off a late charging Edward Bell. Brodie Mcgowan took third.

Hall and Leek started on the front row for the feature. Leek was able to have a quick start and got the early lead. Hall started to follow and moved up higher on the track. While it looked like he was slowly gaining on the leader, he decided to try low but fell behind. Moving back up the track, Hall found grip coming out of turn two on lap nine and gunned it for the lead. Leek would later be challenged by Bell who then set eyes for the leader. Unfortunately, Bell didn’t have enough and Hall went on to take the feature win. Leek finished third.

The HD Contracting Ent. 4-Cylinders had plenty of action as well with Madoc Mulholland and Dustin Alcock beside each other for almost the entire heat race. At the checkered flag, it would be M. Mulholland with the win. Dustin Wowk finished third. In the second heat, Kamea Mulholland took the lead and stayed there for the race. Shelden McDonald was catching up to her back bumper, but coming to the white flag, he went sideways and had to recover, giving K. Mulholland the space she needed. Jessica Jakabek finished third.

Kamea Mulholland started on the pole and was in her own world throughout much of the feature race with Alcock several car lengths behind. However, with just a couple laps to go, the leaders of Kamea, Alcock and Madoc were catching up to lap traffic. Coming out of turn four, all three cars crossed the checkers at the narrowest of margins with Alcock taking the win!

Congratulations to all the winners and thank you to everyone that made the Becky Alcock Memorial an incredible experience!

We return to Racing on Saturday, August 2 AND Sunday August 3 for the Dinner Jacket Classic Series featuring Winnipeg Super Trucks BOTH days! Hot Laps at 5pm and Racing at 5:30pm. More information soon!
