Driver Information

Michael Bookout – Driver for BiGFooT Racing

Michael Bookout raced onto the sprint car racing scene in 2012 and made his mark. With no prior racing experience in any form of auto racing, he was a true rookie. He is the primary driver for the BiGFooT Racing Team in the Oil Capital Racing Series and accomplished the following in his inaugural season: “OCRS Spirit of the Year Award”, “14th place finish in final standings”, “2nd in the Rookie-of-the-Year competition” and competed in all events.

In only his third year of racing, Michael won his first OCRS "A" Feature at Monett Speedway in Missouri. Last year (his forth), Michael won multiple "A" Feature Hard Charger awards and the Hardest Charger Award for the season in the OCRS.

Michael is a 20 year old college junior majoring in Industrial Safety at the University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond. He has interests in fire-fighting, diesel or alternative fuels technology, and in the oil and gas industry. Country music, fishing and hunting are other passions in his life besides racing.

Racing is in Michael’s blood. His grandfather was an owner and car set-up specialist for a modified and super-modified team at the former Tulsa Speedway in the 1960s and 1970s, winning a championship one year and usually finishing near the top in the standings. “Dub-L 07” is a tribute to the number from that car. His uncle was the youngest race crew member at Tulsa Speedway in the 1970s and his dad did a little racing in street stocks while in college. He hopes to follow in the footsteps of another Tulsa native, Shane Stewart.

The BiGFooT Team and Sprint Car

BiGFooT Racing was selected as the team name for several reasons.
• Name recognition and interest in the legend
• Bookout is Going Fast on oval Tracks
• People do not believe in Bigfoot and did not believe in our team and driver prior to the first season

Dub-L 07 was selected as the number for BiGFooT Racing as a tribute to Michael’s grandfather's racing team.

The 2012 car was a 2005 Maxim “Big Max” chassis with engines by Phil Oakes and David Stephenson.

The 2013 car was primarily the 2005 "Big Max" with a Stewart Racing Engine by Mike Stewart.

The 2014 car was an A.R.T chassis with a Stewart Racing Engine; the 2005 "Big Max" chassis finished the season.

The 2015 car was a Triple X chassis with a Stewart Racing Engine for the first part of the season and a STK Racing Engine for the latter part of the season.
