Consistency Continues

Ray Parent and the Amtrol racing team started their granite state swing with the American Canadian Tour this past Saturday; attending their first of four consecutive series events at New Hampshire tracks.

The first stop on a busy three races in eight days was a new venue for Parent; Canaan Fair Speedway a track in which he had never turned a lap on. Out of the box Ray was at the top of the speed charts, turning the 2nd fastest lap of the day in practice.

Not resting on what the Team had they decided to change the setup and look for even more speed in the 17RI machine. It was their second setup that would set the tone for the day. "To be able to show up at track I've never run a lap on and be that good says everything about this Team," said Parent. "We had good speed in the car but we weren't where we needed to be over a race distance.”

Gaining spots in the all-important +/- qualifying system Parent used +1 to start the main event in the 7th overall position. The 150 lap Subway Fresh Fit feature event would be slowed multiple times by yellow flags; in all 12 times.

Needing green flags runs to get his Amtrol machine rolling; he would spend the race distance between the 5th and 7th place positions. During the races longest green flag run of 39 laps Parent battled Vermont native Brent Dragon multiple laps for the 4th position only to see his efforts dashed by another yellow flag.

At the end it was a hard fought 7th place finish that continues a streak of five consecutive top ten's in series competition. That consistency has continued Parent's march to the top of the point’s standings in American Canadian Tour, as he now sits third overall. The highest position he has earned in his career. Ray left pleased with the overall outcome, "I'm happy with that finish… We had a 6th or 7th pace car today. I really needed those long runs to get going. Looking back maybe we should have stuck with our first setup… But you can't settle when you run in this series; you have to try things to get better."

A busy doubleheader weekend is up next for the series as they head to White Mountain Motorsport's Park on Saturday for the annual 150 lap event. Then on Sunday the series heads back to Groveton New Hampshire’s Riverside Speedway for the completion of ACT Bond Auto 150; a race that was rained out on June 2nd. The action resumes on lap 29 with Ray running in the 9th position.

"We're looking forward to getting back to both tracks. We have a good package for White Mountain and took home a top 10 last year. Also i know we will be better for Riverside as well. It will be a busy weekend for sure, Parent finished."
