Moving On

What started as promising day for Ray Parent and the Amtrol racing Team ended before lap one of round #8 on American Canadian Tour. The Team rolled into White Mountain Motorsport’s Park looking to build upon their hard fought 8th place run the week prior. A part failure would end their night before it begin.

The day started out well as Parent battled Todd Davis for multiple laps on the outside lane before gaining the upper hand and taking the victory in the first heat race. The +1 would put the Amtrol Ford Fusion in the 6th starting position for the 150-lap event.

As the field paced before the green flag Parent knew he was in for a long night. The left front sway bar bracket failed allowing the sway bar to become unhooked. With field going green Parent was stuck waiting for a caution. The one and only yellow flag would fly on lap 44 not allowing the Team the proper time needed to fix the issue. Parent would nurse the 17RI machine to a 18th place finish.

“It was a long night, Parent stated. We had such a great car… Top three easy. I know we could have competed for that win. We just had a part failure and were along for the ride. It couldn’t have been fixed without taking the whole sway bar out of the car, so we choose to fight it out. All the guys did a great job. Sometimes things just break, he finished.”

Parent and the Amtrol Team will head to upstate New York this coming weekend for the largest event in American Canadian Tour history; the International 500 at Airborne International Raceway. The event will feature three 100-lap races boasting a $140,000+ total purse with $25,000 going to the winner. It will feature a “Milk Bowl” style race format as drivers will receive points matching their finishing position for each of the three segments. The driver will the lowest point total after the 300 laps will be the winner.

Parent heads into the event with back to bag top 5’s on the half-mile oval; missing a top 3 finish by mere inches in Airborne 100 in May. “We are really looking forward to this weekend, Parent stated. Airborne is a great track for us. With this format you just have to worry about running hard for those laps not things like pitting in the middle of the race. We are really looking forward to Saturday and having the chance to get some practice time in. That’s something we haven’t been able to do much this year. It will be exciting for sure, Parent finished.”
