Setters Scores Two Top 10s During Montana Round Up at Electric City Speedway

Inside Line Promotions – GREAT FALLS, Mont. (Sept. 8, 2020) – James Setters delivered a pair of top-10 performances last weekend during the 26th annual Montana Round Up hosted by Electric City Speedway.

Setters, who recently earned his second straight Rocky Mountain Sprint Car Series championship at the track, kicked off the three-day 360ci winged sprint car show on Friday. He qualified 11th quickest, placed fifth in a heat race and won the B Main to lock into the main event. Setters maneuvered from 17th to 13th to cap the night.

“We had a little bit of a rough first night just figuring the car out,” he said. “We hadn’t raced it much and we did pretty well. We just started further back that night. That did give me some confidence that I could pass people.”

Setters improved on Saturday, narrowly finishing second in a heat race before advancing from 13th to seventh in the main event.

“We set the car up a little bit looser,” he said. “The track cleaned off and got sticky. I don’t think it took rubber until the end. We got up there and were able to pass people in the middle to the top.”

The event concluded on Sunday and Setters won a heat race to lock into the feature redraw. He pulled the No. 5 to line up on the inside of the third row.

“We definitely got better with the heat races all weekend,” he said. “We got a good start and stayed in the lead the whole time. It definitely helps being up there and starting in a better position.”

Setters battled a tight race car in the feature as he faded to a ninth-place result. It marked his 11th top 10 of the season in 14 races.

“We were happy with the weekend,” he said. “I was just hoping to compete with these guys. This was one of the best races I’ve seen. There were 30 cars and 15 of them could win.”
