Driver Information

Son of Blue island Illinois' Raceway park veteran, Jim Gilbert. Tommy was born into racing. He started racing himself full time in 2007 at Boyd's speedway, Ringgold,Ga. He started out racing in the Front Wheel drive division and was completely winless until subbing for Richard Hickman in 2010 to where he won 3 features in row at Cleveland Speedway. Soon after that Tommy built his astonishing 22 feature winning (between 2010 and 2011) Honda civic. He went on to win the Front wheel drive track championship at Boyd's Speedway. Tommy has raced at several different tracks from North Georgia Speedway(Chatsworth,Ga), Winchester speedway(Winchester,Tn), Fort Payne motor speedway (Fort Payne, Al) I75 Raceway(sweetwater,Tn), And even Rockford Speedway in Rockford, Il!
In 2012 Tommy started his Rookie year in the street stock/B-Hobby division in a 1978 Camaro, the season was one for the record books as Tommy was in contention for not 1 but 2 Track championships! But just 6 races to go before season end the unthinkable happened and Tommy's car was destroyed in a wreck at Boyd's speedway, costing him his remarkable season.
Shortly after season end Tommy decided to take some time off for family issues. But returned in 2015 with another street stock, but the bad luck was still hovering around as he lost 2 engines ending his season just 6 short races in.
Tommy got a Phone call from his best friend, Adam Reseigh, in the winter of 2015 saying he had a engine that he wanted Tommy to have. Tommy picked up the engine and assembled it dropped it into the T19 Monte carlo ss and went Racing! In 2016 Tommy got to fulfill a lifelong childhood dream where he and his dad, Jim, race side by side door to door for 12 of 15 laps in a feature at Boyd's Speedway!
In 2017 Tommy Won 2 Features and several heat races at Boyd's. But no points were kept in that season, but if they were Tommy would've won or finished a close 2nd in points. 2018 brought on a new look for Tommy, the very ugly black and white spray paint numbered car got a face lift! In the off season(and 4 months into the season) Tommy put all new decking and body on the T19 machine. Making it a real head Turner and Gaining a sponsorship from Lee Harbin with Budget septic and drain! Tommy had some troubles in the 2018 season but still finished 3rd in points at Boyd's and won 2 features at North Georgia Speedway!
With 2019 coming and Boyd's Speedway "going back big tires", Tommy decided to go ahead and make the switch with just a few races remaining in 2018 and raced in the hobby class. Both races Tommy ran in hobby he finished an amazing 6th place both times! Which is incredible considering the major chassis and suspension difference!
2019 turned out to be a killer season for the T19 machine wing 7 feature events at 4 different tracks at Boyd's Speedway, Fort Payne motor Speedway, North Georgia Speedway, and I75 speedway! Also winning the track championship at Boyd's Speesway! 2020 should be a stellar year if the momentum keeps up for the Rossville native as he plans to run a full schedule at I75 Raceway!
