Dumpert Claims Sixth NCRA Late Model Victory of the Season!
Park City, Kansas – September 15, 2018 - Cory Dumpert of York, Nebraska took the lead early and never looked back to claim the National Championship Racing Association of Park City, Kansas presented by Precise Racing Products crate late model feature Saturday night at 81 Speedway in Park City, Kansas.
Three-time and defending tour champion Chris Kratzer and Dumpert started on the front row for the twenty-five-lap feature with Kratzer taking the lead as the green flag fell. Dumpert settled into the second position while Delbert Smith, Jimmy Segraves and Brandon Givens the top five after the first lap was completed.
The first caution would wave after the first lap was complete two cars made contact entering turn three.
Kratzer would lead the field to the green on the restart but Dumpert would drive low entering turns one and two and pass Kratzer to take the lead.
Dumpert opened up a quick half-stretch lead over Kratzer by lap five before the second caution flag fell when Damian Patocka hit the wall at the top of turn two. One lap later the final caution would wave when Robert Shepard came to a stop at the top of turn four.
On the final restart there was no stopping Dumpert as he would go on to claim his sixth series victory of the season and pull to within forty points of current series points leader Leonard with two events remaining on the season.
Kratzer would settle for second, one full stretch behind Dumpert while Smith, Segraves and Leonard would round out the top five.
The three, eight lap heat races for the fifteen-car field were won by Dumpert and Segraves.
Next up for the NCRA Crate Late Model division will be on Saturday night, October 6, at 81 Speedway in Park City as part of the tracks “All Four NCRA Classic” that will also see the series sprint, modified and mod lite divisions in action.
