Olson Wins Final Feature at Maquoketa
Maquoketa, IA (October 18th, 2025) - Only a week after picking up the INEX National Championship for the semi-pro division, Ty Olson returned to victory lane, this time at Maquoketa Speedway with the Midwest Legends Dirt Series.
Twenty-three cars checked in for the final feature of 2025. Multiple cars were on the heels of nationals and many others were giving it their last run in their cars before potential sales in the offseason.
Three N&S Towing heat races were up first, with Olson taking the win in heat number one. Dylan Manning brought home second with Adam Reed wrapping up the top three.
Brycen Wilson took home the win in the second heat of the night. It was Cole O’Brien who came second while Jeremiah Davis rounded out the top three.
It was the 2025 MLDS Champion Hayden Schmuhl who sealed heat three on the night. It was his Beaver Dam buddy Talyn Neuman who came home second and Jeff Schmidt third.
Olson drew for the pole while Colton Irving drew outside the front row. The green flag flew and racing was underway for the final time in 2025. Olson got the jump and held the lead while Schmuhl and Neuman both moved their way into the remaining top two spots. Caution flew four laps into the feature as Schmidt and Irving got into it, ending both their nights early. Olson led the field back to green and racing resumed. Schmuhl took over the lead momentarily after a slip up from Olson, but was quickly passed again by the #7T. Caution flew again as a car came to a rest on the front straight. With inclement on the radar, drivers were informed the feature would be shortened to fifteen-laps. Green flew with six to go and it was a sprint to the finish, with Olson having to defend from haymakers all throughout the field. Olson showed why he was a national champion as he defended the attacks, as a red flag ended the race prematurely as Reed flipped down the back straight. Reed was okay after a check up by the medics.
Ty Olson was named the winner of the shortened feature, with Schmuhl bringing home second and Manning third. O’Brien and Neuman wrapped up the top five on the night.
The win meant Olson got contingency rewards from Aero Race Wheels and Rush Race Gear. O’Brein brought home the Professional Plating and Rush Race Gear hard charger spot, up eight spots on the night.
The Midwest Legends Dirt Series now looks forward to the post season banquet and the post season in preparation for a fantastic 2026.
