Hoffman sidelined in North-South prelim at Florence Speedway
After a $10,000 victory earlier in the week, Nick Hoffman returned to the Tye Twarog Racing No. 9 Late Model at Florence Speedway (Union, Ky.) on Thursday for a pair of prelims to kick off the 46th annual Sunoco North-South 100 weekend.
With the pit area crammed full with 61 Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) entries, Hoffman came out the gate firing as he timed in second-fastest in his group before placing first in his heat. Starting the $5,000-to-win preliminary feature in third, Nick was an early retiree on lap 10 after contact with the wall broke a rocker arm.
The team made the decision to sit out the remainder of the event and enjoy the weekend as spectators.
