Moran Wins $20,000 in Florence's HTF vs NALMS Showdown
WALTON, Ky. (June 28, 2025) — Devin Moran of Dresden, Ohio, overtook Josh Rice of Verona, Ky., on lap 19 and never relinquished the lead en route to a $20,000 victory in Saturday’s 50-lap feature at Florence Speedway. The co-sanctioned event, part of the Hunt the Front Super Dirt Series and Northern Allstars Late Model Series, featured three different leaders and intense racing throughout the 26-car field.
Moran piloted the Double Down Motorsports Lazy Days RV-backed Longhorn Chassis to the win, leading the final 32 circuits and holding off a late-race resurgence from Rice, who finished 0.527 seconds back.
Rice charged from the seventh starting spot to take the lead on lap 17, briefly pacing the field before Moran took over. Rice faded to third before reclaiming the runner-up spot with an outside move on lap 42. Milton, Fla.’s Joseph Joiner charged from 21st to finish third, earning the MD3 Hard Charger of the Race Award.
Jimmy Owens of Newport, Tenn., took over the HTF Series points lead with a fourth-place finish and Dale McDowell of Chickamauga, Ga., rounded out the top five. Hudson O’Neal of Martinsville, Ind., was in contention late before suffering a flat tire on lap 47. Reigning series champion Brandon Overton of Evans, Ga., completed the top 10, while early leader Jason Jameson of Lawrenceburg, Ind., slipped to fifth after pacing the opening 16 laps.
Four cautions slowed the race, including a flat tire for 2023 HTF champion Josh Putnam on lap 45 and O’Neal’s issue two laps later.
The next Hunt the Front Super Dirt Series event is scheduled for Saturday, July 5, at Senoia Raceway in Senoia, Ga., headlined by the $15,000-to-win Independence Shootout.
