Oliver Outduels Topless Field At Sugar Creek to Earn the $4,000 To Win Clash At The Creek
Blueridge, GA (5-31-25) Jamie Oliver of Murphy, NC led flag to flag to capture his 2nd Jail Breaker Potato Chips Topless Outlaws feature. He won on September 24th last year at Sugar Creek to earn his first ever Topless feature.
The win was anything but easy for the co-promoter at Tri-County Racetrack in nearby Brasstown, NC. Zach Sise of Knoxville, Tenn. kept it interesting but was never truly able to challenge Oliver for the lead. Oliver finished 1.973 seconds ahead of Sise.
The feature was slowed a total of 7 times for caution. Houston Spurlock of Gadsden, AL spun in turn 1 to bring out the first caution on lap 1.
A mid-pack melee in turn 4 occurred on the ensuing restart with all cars able to continue with the exception of Drew Deaver of McCaysville, GA.
The 3rd caution waved on lap 11 as Derek Birchfield of Maryville, Tenn. made contact with the turn 2 wall and slowed down the backstretch, he was able to continue.
The next caution flew for debris from the Birchfield car between turns 1 and 2.
Caution 5 waved before lap 12 could be scored for Kelby Norwood of Athens, Tenn. who spun in turn 4 and collected Jack Franklin of Murphreesboro, Tenn. Both cars retired at that point.
Caution waved again at this stage for Chase King who spun to the infield exiting turn 4 after contact from Daniel Boles of Clinton, Tenn. Boles was dubiously awarded the caution and sent to the rear while King got his spot back in 9th
The 7th and final caution didn't wave until lap 31 for a slowing Rucker Orr of Newnan, GA in turn 4.
Multiple battles were waged for the 3rd spot but was ultimately won by Oliver Gentry of Newnan, GA. He and David Payne of Murphy, NC swapped the spot multiple times. Payne settled for 4th while Topless points leader John Ownbey of Cleveland, Tenn. rounded out the top 5 after he ran as high as third.
Oliver also won the $150 Marlar Auto Mart Mash The Gas Dash after starting 3rd to earn the pole for the feature. Sise won the $100 CV Racing Parts Fast Time Award with an overall fast time of 14.972. Payne won the $100 Spring Pro Smash The Clock fastest in Hot Laps Award. Brandon Kinzer of Allen, Kentucky crashed hard into the turn 4 wall during time trials and did not make it out for the heat but started 22nd in the feature and finished 8th to earn the PPM Racing Products Hard Charger Award.
A jubilant Jamie Oliver stated form VP Racing Fuels Victory Lane "How about it race fans, this ole wore out junky Ford won the race. We appreciate all of our fans here, I don't get to thank 'em enough. We didn't let nobody come in here and tread on our waters either. I'd like to thank my wife, my kids, my crew John, Jason, my dad, Bo Bo, Kyle; they bring us food every week and help us out at the track at Tri-County, Jason Welshan of Competition Race Equipment.
