All Eyes on Marysville Raceway This Saturday
MARYSVILLE, Calif., September 2, 2025…The most important races of the season will take place this Saturday night, September 6, with three track championships on the line at Marysville Raceway. Anticipation is at an all-time high for the drivers and fans. As local racing fan Marc Turnovsky says, “That’s what we came for!” The fans will be treated to the 360 sprint cars, Hobby Stocks, and Winged Crate Sprints. If there is one night that you don’t want to miss, this is the time to go.
The 360-sprint car championship is up for grabs. Oroville’s Nick Larsen holds a slim four-point edge over Grass Valley’s Billy Wallace. Larsen and Wallace are the only two in line for the title. Third place Carson Hall is 50 points behind Larsen. Paradise’s Jayden Bunch sits fifth in points and is currently the top ranked rookie driver. The other rookie driver, Trey Walters of Reno, sits in the seventh spot and 31-points back of Bunch. Both Larsen and Wallace have each won a single main event this season. This battle will go down to the very last lap.
The championship for the Winged Crate Sprints is just as close. Caleb Ingle holds a small five-point lead over Jacob Johnson. Ingle has been on a hot streak of late. After winning the last two main events, Ingle now has amassed four wins this season. Johnson has a total of two wins. If these two drivers happened to tie in points, the title would tilt towards Ingle with his four victories. The third spot is on the line also. David Derr Jr. holds a four-point lead over Misty Castleberry. Fifth place in points is dead locked between Derek Droivold and KC Carpenter who each have 380 points.
Defending Hobby Stock champion Kyle Cheney leads Toby Merrifield by 23-points. Cheney, four wins this season, will still have to show up and do work this Saturday. If any sort of problem arises, it can give Merrifield the chance to pass him in the point standings. While Merrifield wants to win the title, he will also have to hold off third placed Jason Clayton. Only eight-points separate these two quality drivers. Ryan Smith sits in the fourth spot. Kevin Thomas and Willy King are tied for the fifth spot. Each driver has 304 points.
Pit gate is slated to open at 3pm. Front gate will open at 5pm. Adult general admission is $18 (ages 16-61), Juniors and Seniors $16 (ages 12-15 / 62+), and kids are $8 (ages 6-11). Military with ID card is $16. Children 5 and under are FREE. Parking is also FREE for grandstand attendees.
Exciting, grass roots dirt track racing is on display this Saturday night.
