Burdette wins first ALMS feature as Late Models return to Limaland

Parkersburg, WV native Colten Burdette came into Friday nights Late Model Mania presented by LuseStyle.com as the Valvoline American Late Model Iron Man Series Points leader, but was yet to get his first Iron Man victory. He marked that checkbox in dramatic fashion by passing for the lead and the win on the last lap at Limaland Motorsports Park on Friday night.

The Valvoline American Late Model Iron Man Series brought a great field of cars for the first Late Model race at Limaland Motorsports Park since 2007. It didn’t take long for things to get wild as 4 cars piled up on the initial start in turn 1, and caused a complete restart. As the green flag waved Burdette pilot his No. 53C to the lead with No. 29 Clint Keenan battling for the point. As Burdette began to stretch the lead out, caution would fly again on lap 7 as the No. 317 of Blake Creech would spin in turn 4. On the restart, No. 71R Rod Conley would show Burdette the nose of his car and try to make a move for the lead, but all eyes were looking further back as “The Wayne Hurricane” Jeff Babcock began taming the high line around Limaland to charge his way to the front. Babcock took the No. 7B to fifth on lap 9, then to third on lap 12. On lap 15 he made his way to second and then took advantage of lapped traffic to grab the lead on lap 24. As Babcock was maneuvering his way to the front, No. 91 Rusty Schlenk was quietly making moves to follow Babcock to the front. Schlenk grabbed third on lap 24 and began to close on the leaders, until the caution flew one more time on lap 28, setting up a 2 lap dash to the finish. On the restart, Babcock went back to the top of the race track and did all he could to hold off Burdette, but Burdette was able to slide past Babcock in turn 2 on the final lap and hold off Babcock and Schlenk at the line. No. S21 Seth Daniels would finish fourth and Keenan would complete the top five.

In Lock Sixteen Thunderstock action, It was No. 26 Justin Long leading from green to checkered to pick up his first win of 2025, but it was far from easy. Long fielded challenges from No. 82 Chris Douglas, and No. 22T Tony Anderson throughout the fifteen lap feature event, but would hold on to win over Anderson, No. 60 Todd Sherman, No. 1 Houston Null, and Douglas.

Completing the nights racing action were the Bath Masters DIRTcar UMP Modifieds in their 20 lap A Main. Warsaw Indiana’s Dillon Nusbaum would pilot his No. 17N to his second victory of the season in the caution filled feature. UNOH Racer Aidan Hinds would lead the field to green in the UNOH No. 01 alongside No. 9C Troy Catterene, with Hinds grabbing the early lead. Nusbaum was able to make his way around the outside of Hinds to take the lead on lap 2. Nusbaum was able to weather the caution flags and restarts to pick up his second consecutive feature win of 2025. Cattarene would fight his way to finish second, with No. 16 Jeff Koz third, Hinds fourth and No. 65 Todd Sherman completing the top 5.

Limaland Motorsports Park is back in action next Friday with Firecracker Friday presented by T&D Interiors in memory of Don Dunbar. In action will be the GLSS Ohio CAT Sprint Cars, the Bath Masters DIRTcar UMP Modifieds, and Lock Sixteen Thunderstocks.
