Track Championship/Points Championship

The Devils Lake Speedway capped off its regular season with a 2 day special. Track Championship Saturday Night and Points Championship Sunday. 

For Track Championship night had a little bit different of a format. Each heat ran twice. 1st heat went according to pill draw. 2nd heat was inverted. The feature was made up according to passing points from the heats. 

On Saturday of Track Championship night in the Street Stock Class Rookie Driver Seth Klostreich of Grand Forks ND drove his 30 car from 2nd place to 1st place in his 1st heat. In the inverted heat driving from 6th place to 2nd place. Which gave him enough passing points to start pole for the feature. Lakota ND driver Trey Hess went from the 2nd place position to 1st in his 1st heat. His second heat started 5th and won his heat. Putting him in the 2nd place position for the feature. Joe Potter of East Grand Forks MN drove his 10 car from 4th to 1st in the Feature. Top 5 finishes 5th place 29 Dan McNamee of Arvilla ND. 4th place 5 Bradon Miller of Lakota ND. 3rd place 4 Trey Hess of Lakota ND. 2nd Place 30 Seth Klostreich of Grand Forks ND and 1st Place 10 Joe Potter of East Grand Forks MN.

In the home track rules pure stocks Devils Lake Driver Dan Arends with his 43 machine started 3rd in the heat and finished 1st. In the inverted heat started 4th to finish 2nd. Joe Armstrong of Crary ND drove the 1J car from 5th to 2nd in the 1st heat and 2nd to 1st in the inverted heat. For the feature Armstrong started 2nd and finished 1st. Top 5 finish 5th place 67 Amanda Jahner of Dickenson ND. 4th Place 43 Dan Arends of Devils Lake. 3rd Place 850 Colten Laber of Mandan ND. 2nd Place 35 Dan Bromstad of Luvern ND. 1st place 1J Joe Armstrong of Crary ND. 

Track championship night for the Midwest mods. Had young driver Randy Thompson of Lakota ND with his 16 car starting pole for his 1st heat and finishing 2nd. In the inverted heat Thompson started 7th and drove up to 3rd place. Rookie driver Bailey Cousins of Morden MB with his 7B car started 2nd and won his 1st heat. In the inverted heat the young driver started 6th and finished 3rd. Putting him in the 2nd position for the feature and Thompson on the pole. Thompson held off the field to take the checkered 2 weeks in a row. With Cole Haugland of Brocket ND with his 10C car storming the field to finish 2nd behind Thompson. Top 5 finishes 5th Place 7B Bailey Cousin of Morden MB. 4th Place 5BA Aaron Blacklance of Thief River Falls MN. 3rd Place 5 Preston Carr of Carrington ND. 2nd Place 10C Cole Haugland of Brocket ND and 1st Place 16 Randy Thompson of Lakota ND. 

Night 2 ended the points race at the Devils Playground. With the same format from the night before. In the Street Stock Class the 46 car driven by Johnny Carter made an appearance starting 6th in his 1st heat to charge the field to finish 1st. In his inverted heat started pole and held off the field to finish 1st. Carter started 2nd in the feature and took an early lead. Holding the field off to make his way into victory lane. Top 5 finishes went as follows 5th Place 29 Dan McNamee of Arvilla ND. 4th place 59 Kyle Anderson of Jamestown ND. 3rd Place 2U Kasey Ussatis of Enderlin ND. 2nd Place 4 Trey Hess of Lakota ND. 1st Place 46 Johnny Carter of Lisbon ND. 

The home track rules purestocks brought someone out of retirement. Steven Richard's of Finely ND came out of racing retirement to take Mark Bromstad of Hope ND purestock for a sunday night drive around the race track. Richard's drove the 19 machine to a 3rd place finish in heat 1. In the inverted heat drove from 4th to 1st. Starting 2nd for the feature richards managed to take an early lead and took the checked in the caution free feature. Top 5 finishes 5th place 51 A.J. Davenport of Bismarck ND. 4th Place 35 Daniel Bromstad of Lavern ND. 3rd Place 1J Joe Armstrong of Crary ND. 2nd Place 43 Dan Arends of Devils Lake ND. 1st Place 19 Steven Richards of Finely ND. 

The 19 car of Lucas Rodin of Marion ND drove from 2nd to 1st in his 1st heat and 5th to 1st in the invert heat. Putting him pole for the feature. Austin Hunter of Winnipeg MB with his 44 machine started pole in his 1st heat and held off the field to finish 1st. In his inverted heat starting 6th and charging to a 2nd place finish. 32 Eric Haugland of Lawton ND charged from 5th place in his 1st heat to 1st and 1st in the inverted field to hold off the field to finish 1st. Come feature time a tight battle ensued between Haugland, Rodin and Hunter. As the field spread out a bit. A multiple lap battle ensued between Hunter and Rodin. Rodin took the high side and Hunter took the bottom line. With them swapping lead positions with each turn around the track which made for an interesting and exciting finish. Rodin came out on top taking the checkered flag. With Hunter finishing 2nd and Haugland finishing 3rd. Tony Smith finished 4th and Bailey Cousins finished 5th.

The Devils Lake Speedway has finished its Wissota Season but has 1 more auto race on the schedule. With the home track rules Purestock Nationals scheduled for Sept 14. The $500 to win $100 to start is brought to you by area Pioneer seed dealers. The INEX legends and NLSA lightning Sprints will be joining in on the fun. Other events to look forward to. Will be a the Roamers Mud Run September 28th and Northern Plains Motocross Civil Series also September 28th.
