Track Information

Midstate Dragway is a 1/8th miles dragstrip located just 5 miles south of rural Havana, Illinois that has continuously operated since 1969!

Our schedule includes very competitive bracket racing, no prep, street car racing and two jammed packed Nostalgia Drags events that bring racers and race fans from all over the country. You will also see motorcycle drag racing along with kids competing in the Junior Dragster class!

Over the past decade the track has undergone a number of renovations including track resurfacing, an extended shutdown and updated handicapped accessible restrooms.

The track surface has been completely replaced, the concrete from the water box to 360ft. was replaced in 2013. The asphalt was repaved in 2011.

The total shut-down area is 1,780 feet from the finish line to the beginning of the sand trap.

At the end of 2022, the race track was purchased by Vashawn Young. Vashawn brought in a long time friend, Greg Gebhardt from Jacksonville IL as General Manager. Vashawn and Greg are both 2nd generation drag racers that started their racing endeavors at a very young age racing Junior Dragsters at the track. Both of their families have been heavily into the sport of drag racing for decades. Vashawn's late father Ed "Fast Eddie" Young actually raced at the track when it was open in 69! They are both dedicated to turning Central Illinois Dragway into the best and fastest 1/8th mile dragstrip in the country!

*New for 2023 - We have purchased all new state of the art LED lighting for the track and pit area. We are also excited to announce that we have new LED scoreboards and an all new PORTATREE timing system which includes a beautiful Christmas Tree and Live Timing! We also are working with MyRacePass for a great webpage experience!

Future renovations are underway with additional parking for racers, more paving for a cleaner experience, camping areas with optional electric hookups, improving and adding on to the concession area and adding additonal bleachers for more seating for our race fans!

The gates will be open at 3PM for our Friday Night Test and Tune events with things kicking off at 5PM-10PM

On our regular Saturday bracket programs, the gates will be open at 8AM and we will start time runs approximately around 10:00 AM - 10:30 AM

Midstate Lucky 7's events we will try to start an hour earlier than normal as we expect large car counts for those weekends. The gates open at 7AM and we will run Junior Dragster time runs before the big cars hit the track. Juniors will be hot on the track at 9AM for those events.

Yes, camping is allowed! We would absolutely love for you to spend your weekend with us at the track. As of right now, we do not have any electrical hookups or dump stations for RV's but we do plan on doing that very soon for a better camping experience. We are also hoping to install showers at some point as well.

•Please be respectful to everyone when it is late. We do not have a set curfew but just ask for you to keep the noise down so you do not disrupt others.
•Please stay off of the race track. We want to keep the track clean and accident free from any mishaps that could occur overnight.
•Camp fires are ok within reason. Please do not start a fire directly on the ground. Either bring a fire pit with you or as a track official if there are any more fire pits that you could use.
•Before you leave, please pick up your surroundings and discard any trash in the trash cans provided.
•Last and final "rule" - Be safe and have fun!!!
