Inside Line Promotions – SALINA, Okla. (Oct. 24, 2016) – Jason Sides is hoping to close the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series with a strong performance this weekend at the Bad Boy Off Road World of Outlaws World Finals.

Sides and the Outlaws will cap the 2016 season this Thursday through Saturday at The Dirt Track at Charlotte in Concord, N.C., where his best finish has been a runner-up result.

“Of course everyone wants to go win the race,” he said. “Hopefully we can earn a strong top five and a pair of top 10s to close the Outlaws season.”

Sides enters the event ranked ninth in the World of Outlaws championship standings. He has earned 27 top 10s this season and was hoping to add to that total last weekend in the Midwest, where Sides ended 12th both nights during a World of Outlaws doubleheader.

The action began on Friday at Lakeside Speedway in Kansas City, Kan., for the O’Reilly Auto Parts Rumble on the River. Sides qualified ninth quickest overall before he advanced a position to finish third in a heat race. That lined him up on the inside of the fourth row for the main event.

“We were good the first few laps and they had a caution,” he said. “The restart didn’t go as planned, but we got back by a car or two. Then we had a long red and I’m not sure if that sealed the tire up or what, but after that point I fell back a bit. We had another restart and I got put to the outside lane and it was like being behind a semi in a smart car. It shook all the way down the straightaway and when we got to the corner it didn’t want to turn. We lost a spot or two there. We were just holding on at the end.”

Sides closed the night with a 12th-place finish.

He wrapped up the weekend on Saturday at Salina Highbanks Speedway for the O’Reilly Auto Parts Twister Showdown. Sides timed in 13th quickest, finished fifth in a heat race and advanced from 13th to 12th in the main event.

“We just kind of maintained,” he said. “The top came in pretty good. The bottom went away in turns one and two. We left the setup alone thinking the track would stay heavy and it was a little too free from Lap 6 or 8 on.

“We wanted to get a couple of top 10s last weekend and didn’t so hopefully we can produce some good results this weekend at the World Finals.”
