Inside Line Promotions – CONCORD, N.C. (Nov. 1, 2016) – Jason Sides wrapped up the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series season with a charge last weekend during the Bad Boy Off Road World of Outlaws World Finals.

The season-finale event began on Thursday when Sides qualified ninth quickest for Friday’s program and 18th quickest for Saturday’s show at The Dirt Track at Charlotte.

“We qualified good to start out, but the second round didn’t go so good,” he said. “We were trying to tighten up and we made ourselves worse. It’s really tough when you qualify one night and race the next night.”

Sides placed fourth in a heat race to kick off Friday’s race, which missed a lock-in position to the main event by only one spot.

“The left rear tire shrank two and a half inches,” he said. “We got so loose. It kept wanting to spin out. That’s why we missed it through the heat.”

Sides ended fifth in the Last Chance Showdown to transfer into the back of the main event, in which he charged from 23rd to a 14th-place result.

“We had a good car,” he said. “We just put ourselves in a hole by missing a transfer during the heat race.”

The weekend concluded on Saturday with Sides maneuvering from ninth to fifth place in a heat race to garner the final lock-in position to the main event.

“We got in the show and started 18th,” he said. “They had the track pretty decent. It still had a little bottom and we committed to the bottom. When someone would run in hard from the middle off they’d miss it. We’d slow down and had more gear in it to come off the corners down the straightaway to pass them. The car got so much better late. I hate that we ran out of laps. It was a good way to end everything.”

Sides charged from 18th to the 10th-place result, which was his 32nd top 10 of the season. He finished ninth in the World of Outlaws championship standings.

Sides is heading to I-30 Speedway in Little Rock, Ark., this Thursday through Saturday for the 29th annual COMP Cams Short Track Nationals presented by Hoosier Tires. He won the 360ci winged sprint car event in 2001.

“I’ve run that race a lot of times since 1994,” he said. “It’s always been a fun race. There’s no pressure. It’s fun to hang out and see everybody.”
