Garrett Smith Spectacular in Southern All Star Dirt Racing Series Victory at I-75 Raceway
(SWEETWATER, TENNESSEE) In the tenth round of Southern All Star Dirt Racing Series presented by Franklin Enterprises competition in 2025, Garrett Smith became the eighth different winner on Thursday night at I-75 Raceway in Sweetwater, Tennessee! Garrett kicked off the Independence Day holiday weekend in dominating fashion by sweeping the SAS program at the Volunteer State venue. The Madison, Georgia native earned Fast Time honors during VP Racing Fuels qualifying to capture the pole position for the feature and then proceeded to lead all forty circuits of the contest to bag the $5,000 first place prize money.
The victory didn’t come easy; however, as Smith had to turn back repeated challenges for the top spot by local ace Cory Hedgecock, who started sixth and finished 0.553 of a second behind the #10 at the unfurling of the checkered flag. Tenth-starting Clay Harris, who is a regular with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series, charged to the third spot to round out the podium. Camaron Marlar turned in a strong performance to finish fourth, while Kaede Loudy picked off eleven competitors to earn Hard Charger honors for his fifth place effort.
Booger Brooks, of Chickamauga, Georgia, was close behind in sixth and was awarded both the $500 engine bonus and the $500 tire bonus. He was the highest finishing driver on four American Racer tires and the highest finishing driver powered by a small or less horsepower engine, as defined by Package A, B, C, and D in the series rules. Booger utilized Engine Package D, which was a 525 motor.
Garrett Smith wheeled a #10 Longhorn Chassis powered by a Vic Hill Race Engine with sponsorship in part from Atlanta Paving, Cadillac Ranch, Chase Motorsports, Bilstein Shocks, VP Racing Fuel by Boswell, Schaeffer’s Oil, JM Custom Laser, SS Enterprises, Will Moseley Music, Stanley Painting, Go Lithium Batteries, and VG Performance.
There were 33 Southern All Star Dirt Racing Series competitors signed into the pit area at I-75 Raceway for round ten of the tour. Garrett Smith topped the speed charts in both MRP Fantasy League Hot Laps and VP Racing Fuels qualifying, while Billy Franklin and Sam Seawright were victorious in the pair of consolation events. The 40-lap feature was slowed by only two caution flags and lasted just shy of twenty minutes.
Next up for the Southern All Star Dirt Racing Series presented by Franklin Enterprises will be a visit to Mountain View Raceway in Spring City, Tennessee. On Saturday, July 5, the Super Late Models will vie for a $4,000 payday, while the Sportsman ($900 to win), Open Wheel Modified ($800 to win), Front Wheel Drive ($400 to win), JR FWD, and Mod Mini ($400 to win) divisions are also on the racing card.
