Garrett Smith finishes runner-up with Schaeffer's Oil Southern Nationals Series
Kicking off the final stretch of the mini-tour, Garrett Smith joined the Schaeffer's Oil Southern Nationals Series at Toccoa (Ga.) Raceway on Tuesday afternoon to open up the last week of 2025.
Smith started from the third-row in the $7,553-to-win feature and charged forward to finish runner-up behind Zack Mitchell while Jimmy Owens completed the podium.
On Thursday, Garrett recorded an eighth-place finish at Sugar Creek Raceway (Blue Ridge, Ga.) before finishing outside the Top-10 in the penultimate event at North Georgia Speedway (Chatsworth, Ga.) on Friday.
Needing a solid run for a chance at the points title, Garrett rolled into Tazewell (Tenn.) Speedway on Saturday for the Ray Varner Ford 53 and dealt with mechanical issues early in the 53-lapper. Smith finished 15th in the running order.
Smith was unable to earn the points championship and finished second in the standings.
