Brandon Sheppard Finishes 14th in Lernerville Speedway’s Firecracker 100

Rocket1 Racing to Take a Week Off Before Busy July Stretch

SHINNSTON, W.Va. (06/23/25) – Brandon Sheppard made the most of a rain-shortened weekend, competing in a single event behind the wheel of the Valvoline / Seubert Calf Ranches No. 1 Rocket1 Racing / Ace Metal Works XR1 Rocket Chassis Super Late Model.

With wet weather forcing the cancellation of both preliminary nights of the Firecracker 100 at Pennsylvania’s Lernerville Speedway, Sheppard secured a 14th-place finish in Saturday’s $50,000-to-win main event.

“Not the weekend we had in mind, but the car is in one piece,” Sheppard said. “The track was tricky with all the rain, and we weren’t able to capitalize like we hoped. We had good speed early and ran as high as seventh, but just faded in the final 15 laps. Still, huge thanks to my team—they work hard no matter the result.”

The 19th annual Firecracker 100 officially kicked off on Saturday afternoon after persistent weather forced series and track officials to cancel Thursday and Friday’s prelims. With 53 Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) entries signed in for Saturday’s program, Sheppard followed up the sixth-fastest time in his group with a second-place finish in his heat, locking him into the main event.

Starting the $50,000-to-win Firecracker 100 in 11th, Sheppard climbed as high as seventh on two occasions before ultimately crossing the line in 14th in the 100-lapper.

Sheppard is currently seventh in the latest LOLMDS standings, just three positions outside the top-four in the Big River Steel Chase for the Championship.

Rocket1 Racing will take the upcoming weekend off as the team gears up for a Fourth of July weekend with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series. The action begins Friday, July 4 at Atomic Speedway and continues Saturday with the Freedom 60 at Muskingum County Speedway.
