Wood Tackling Turnpike Challenge This Weekend at Port City Raceway

Inside Line Promotions – AUBURN, Calif. (March 18, 2014) – Sporting a new car, Cole Wood and his team are motivated for a fresh challenge this weekend.

Wood will return to a midget for the first time since the Chili Bowl this Saturday and Sunday at Port City Raceway in Tulsa, Okla., for the Turnpike Challenge with the POWRi Lucas Oil National Midget Series.

“I’m excited to race at another track other than the Chili Bowl,” he said. “We did a season of midget stuff a couple of years ago.”

Wood will be competing in a different car than his Chili Bowl ride, which was a specialty midget for that event.

“We had that Sammy Swindell Chili Bowl car,” he said. “Those light cars feel like they are always on the right rear more than a standard car.”

This weekend’s event marks the first two of approximately 16 midget races for Wood this season.

“Our goal is to have a good weekend where we are competitive,” he said. “My crew chief isn’t a midget crew chief and I haven’t driven in a while. We’re going to try to be competitive and try to run with these guys.”
