UMSS AND CEDAR LAKE SPEEDWAY LOOK TO THE FUTURE
When the Upper Midwest Sprint Car Series (UMSS) was formed over ten years ago, Cedar Lake
Speedway (CLS) was the first track to schedule UMSS wing events for the 2009 season and the
track has been a staple on the UMSS wing schedule ever since.
Same thing when the UMSS introduced the Traditional Sprint Car program in 2011. CLS was an
immediate supporter of the program and that relationship has blossomed to where CLS is now
the home track of the UMSS traditionals, scheduling up to 16 events a year. In addition, the
UMSS traditionals are the marquee class during one of six annual multi-day events at CLS.
Fast forward to 2019 and the UMSS will introduce a more sustainable wing program this year
and, once again, CLS will be involved in a big way. Eight UMSS wing events will dot the CLS
schedule in 2019 including both nights of the WoO weekend in July.

racing as a whole,” stated Bob Kaufman of Cedar Lake Speedway. “The UMSS has always
focused on providing affordable racing and we are appreciative of that for the sport we love.
We are proud of the long-standing relationship we have with the UMSS and look forward to this
coming season."
"Both the UMSS and CLS have benefited from our 10-year relationship and we look forward to
our relationship continuing to grow into the future," stated Ron Bernhagen of the UMSS. "We
expect the relationship with the UMSS wing cars and CLS will grow in similar fashion to what
the traditionals have experienced."
The UMSS was formed in 2008 and offers both a wing and a traditional sprint car program.
