Cole Searing leads All 40; Goes Back-to-Back at KRA

The fourth event for the 2025 Structural Buildings WISSOTA Late Model Challenge Series powered by Momentum Truck Group, Freightliner, Western Star kicked off at the KRA Speedway in Willmar, Minnesota for the opening night of a four race Minnesota/South Dakota swing and saw Huron, South Dakota’s Cole Searing win the 40-lap feature by surviving a late race challenge on the final lap by Dave Mass to get the victory.

An overcast and rainy afternoon turned into a beautiful night for racing and saw seven drivers go faster than the 2024 track record that was set a year ago. Cole Searing and Kevin Eder both tripped the clock at a 15.966 second lap to share fast time honors and co-hold the track record until the series’ next visit. Cole Searing, Dave Mass and Kevin Eder topped the three qualifying heat races early in the night’s program mains to set the feature starting lineup.

Searing and Eder earned the front row for the night’s $3,000 to win, 40-lap feature event with Searing getting the upper hand on the initial start and leading the field into turn number one and lead the opening lap.

The first caution of the 40-lapper flew on lap one when Jon Tollakson got turned around in turn two, slowing the field and ending his night early.

On the restart, Searing blasted around the 3/8 mile oval with Eder in tow. Mass, Shane Sabraski and Jeff Provinzino settled into the top five early on and ran that way until the second caution flag waved on lap five for a Joel Bennett mechanical issue.

As the leaders raced off into the central Minnesota night, several great battles were ongoing for the runner up spot between Mass and Eder and for fifth between Provinzino and Sabraski.

Searing lead Mass, Eder, Provinzino and Sabraski at the halfway point.

After the third and final caution for a Scott Lehn spin, the remainder of the race ran non-stop with great action throughout the field, and it looked as if Searing was going to run off with the win, but on the final lap, Mass mounted one final challenge and got close enough to dart to the outside of Searing in the final corner while Searing was dealing with lapped traffic, but Cole was able to hold on for the victory by 0.330 seconds at the line for his second straight KRA victory. Eder rounded out the podium, with Sabraski and Provinzino finishing inside the top five.

Shane Sabraski won the WISSOTA Super Stock feature, while Kolton Brauer won the WISSOTA Street Stock feature, Carter Rice won the Pure Stock feature as well to round out the night.
