Amendments to King of the Street

Upon review of the feedback received from the posting of the KOS rules on 3/27, the rules have been amended.

Please note the intent of splitting the classes into Outlaw and True Street/Truck to create a place for the actual street cars to race each other.

Highlights:
Chassis rule added to True Street.

Clarification of electronics in True Street.

Clarification of Doors/Windows/Windshield.

Addition of rule in Competition that was inadvertently left out of the original update.

King of the Street Competitions
Entry fee: $50, car and driver only.

Classes: Outlaw, True Street, and Truck

Outlaw Class:
• Outlaw Street: Class is open to full-bodied cars and trucks only. No dragsters, roadsters, altered, or T-buckets (with exception of late model vehicles such as Corvette convertible). Outlaw class can run any engine combo, any tire, any electronics, etc. as long as they are IHRA legal for their expected speed.

True Street/Truck Classes:
• True Street: Class is open to full-bodied cars only. No dragsters, roadsters, altered, or T-buckets (with exception of late model vehicles such as Corvette convertible).

• Truck: Class is open to trucks only.

• Lightweight components are limited to hood, front and rear valances, trunk lid or hatches, wings, ground effects, front and rear bumpers only. One-piece front ends are not permitted.

• Insurance: Vehicle must have proof of current insurance. No temporary printouts.

• Engine Combo: Any engine combination allowed. Engines are limited to one power additive (supercharger, nitrous, or turbocharger).

• Fuel: Fuel is limited to pump gas, diesel, or racing gas. No nitro or alcohol.

• Tires: Must have DOT approved Street or drag tires with factory tread (any width). No slicks.

• Wipers: Must have functional wipers; arms and blades may be removed for safety. The only exception is for pre-1950 vehicles with vacuum wipers.

• Electronics: No delay boxes. No two-steps or trans brakes unless your vehicle is factory equipped with it. No down track electronics period.

• Chassis: No back-halved or tube chassis type cars.

• Cages/Roll Bars: Unaltered 2008 OEM model year and newer production vehicles running slower than 10.00 quarter do not have to meet the requirements and specs for the Summit ET rules except for the following: Convertibles and T-top entries must meet the minimum specs listed in the ET bracket section for roll bar and roll cage requirements. Vehicles must pass all state highway safety requirements prior to acceptance. The vehicles OEM installed anti-lock brakes, airbag function an seat belts as well as any other related system must be functional as per manufacturers specifications all times. Besides that, conform to the regular roll bar and cage rules for the times you run.

General KOS requirements (all classes):
• Minimum vehicle count per class: 8

• Maximum ET for qualification is 14.99 seconds.

• Registration: Vehicle must have a current registration, seasonal tags are allowed. Dealership temp tags on a new model year car with registration paperwork less than 60 days prior to event. Registration must match VIN# and plates; plate must be displayed on rear bumper. No exceptions.

• Lights: Must have a functional lighting system i.e. headlights, taillights, brake lights, and turn signals.

• Charging System: Must have a functional charging system by means of a generator or alternator.

• Exhaust: Must have mufflers that are functional (exhaust running through them, not gutted) and the end of the exhaust pipe or muffler must extend 2” past the driver’s rear door gap. Turbocharger equipped vehicles may have their exhaust exit front in Outlaw class only.

• Lettering/Decals: Lettering and decals limited to the windows and rocker panels only. (Lettering and decals must be placed no higher than 6 inches from the lower body line.)

• Doors: Must be functional.

• Windshield/Windows: Must be OEM type and functional.
• Tow Vehicles: Tow vehicles are prohibited. All cars must drive to the staging lanes and back to pit area after run (except if breakage occurs).

• Safety Rules: IHRA safety rules apply to all vehicles, including Chassis Certification and Competition Licensing.

• Burnouts: Regardless of ET, no burnouts across the starting line.

Competition:
• All vehicles in all classes must compete in all three of their respective qualifying rounds and the first round of the bracket to qualify for any prizes, otherwise the prize will be awarded to the next eligible entry.

• The entry in each class with the lowest ET during the qualifying rounds will be declared the Fastest. Entries will then run a bracket to determine winner and runner up.

• Should anyone enter and win both the fastest car/truck and the bracket race in any class, they will receive a bonus.

• Outlaw: Chicago style ladder based on the best ET of three qualifying rounds. Dial in, full tree.

• KOS/Truck: Dial-in, full tree. Chips will determine the bracket.

Prizes:

Each class will receive the following payout based on number of entries in that class.
• Fastest: 40% of entries. Bracket Winner: 40% of entries. Bracket Runner-up: 20% of entries

Schedule:
• Gates will open at 2 pm. Time trials are from 4 until 5:30. Parade lap through the park and back to the staging lanes starts at 6 pm. Immediately followed by the first qualifying pass. There will be approximately a 15-minute cool down period between rounds per class from the time the last run is made in that class.
