Inside Line Promotions – OSBORN, Mo. (Sept. 19, 2016) – Jason Sides had a strong week of racing across the United States.

The action with the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series began last Wednesday when Sides made his debut at El Paso County Raceway in Calhan, Colo. He qualified fourth quickest before placing second in a heat race to earn a spot in the dash.

“It was a different little track,” he said. “We didn’t expect to be as good as we were. The air was really, really bad. Of course the race track is at 7,000 feet. We went out kind of late and had a really good lap in qualifying and did what we needed in the heat race to make the dash.”

Sides then finished fifth in the dash to start the main event on the inside of the third row.

“In the feature I got to third a couple of laps in,” he said. “The restarts were really big for me because on the bottom on the inside there was a little spot of moisture. Once you got to turn one you had to be careful going in there, but then you could hammer down going around. Donny (Schatz) got by so that put me fourth. With two laps to go Logan (Schuchart) came by on the bottom, almost stopping hitting the moisture and getting a good shot off the corner.”

Sides scored a fifth-place result, which was his sixth top five of the season.

He returned to action on Friday at Clay County Fair Speedway in Spencer, Iowa, for the Arnold Motor Supply Shootout. Sides timed in 12th quickest during qualifying and he ended third in a heat race to miss the dash by only one position. That lined him up on the outside of the sixth row for the main event.

“They got like six inches of rain the night before,” he said. “When we got there the pit area was a little soft, but the race track looked absolutely perfect. It raced good. It got slick in (turns) one and two and in (turns) three and four stayed a little better. There were some guys way around the top and a lot right around the bottom. We were tight enough to move up through there. I think we could have got a top five, but we hit a road block there. (Danny) Lasoski was on the bottom in sixth and he wasn’t budging.”

Sides maneuvered from 12th to record a seventh-place finish.

The weekend wrapped up on Saturday at U.S. 36 Raceway for the FVP Missouri High-Banked Nationals.

“It started out as a really bad night,” he said. “We hot lapped and felt pretty good. As I rolled off the track the motor popped one time and it died. We changed boxes and it wouldn’t fire. We changed boxes again and it wouldn’t fire. We changed the fuel pump and it wouldn’t fire. We changed motors and put that second box on that was brand new and it wouldn’t fire. We put a third box on and it fired.”

Sides missed qualifying and his heat race. That started him last – 11th – in the Last Chance Showdown. He advanced to place sixth and earn the final transfer into the A Main, which he started last. Sides charged from 24th to 14th in the main event to garner the Hard Charger Award for passing the most cars.

“We just tried staying out of the way of everybody,” he said. “We ran around the bottom and ended up 14th.”

Sides will face another World of Outlaws tripleheader this week with races on Wednesday at Hartford Speedway in Hartford, Mich.; on Friday at Eldora Speedway near Rossburg, Ohio, for the 4-Crown Nationals; and on Saturday at Lernerville Speedway in Sarver, Pa., for the Commonwealth Clash.
