Vado victory for Ahumada Jr.
Carlos Ahumada Jr. mounted a stellar charge at Vado (New Mexico) Speedway Park on Saturday night to earn his second feature triumph of the season.
Twenty-three USRA Modified competitors were in the pit area at the 3/8-mile track to begin the evening, including Ahumada and his Hacienda Motorsports No. 65x team.
Ahumada drove from seventh to fifth in his heat race, putting him 13th on the grid to begin the 25-lap feature. He steadily marched forward throughout the race and took the lead with just two laps remaining. He won by a 1.443-second margin over Hunter Sandy, with Christy Barnett, Philip Houston and John Neal Reid rounding out the top five.
