Nick Barzee Banks $2,000 with Mr. Oswego County Tourism 350 Supermodified Title
OSWEGO, NY (August 10, 2025) - Nick Barzee earned his third career win in a big way on Saturday night, taking home $2,000 and the prestigious title of Mr. Oswego County Tourism 350 Supermodified. Joining the ranks of recent champions Tyler Thompson, Chase Locke, and Josh Sokolic, Barzee comes off a runner-up finish just last week and made it count when it mattered most.
New Englander Ryan Battle and Brendan Young brought the field to green, with Battle jumping out to an early lead. However, the race came to a halt in the first corner when Dawson Hawksby spun and collected key poin/ts leaders Kyle Perry and Dave Cliff, along with Noah Ratcliff and Joey Scanlon. Both Perry and Ratcliff suffered violent hits but were thankfully okay, though all the involved cars were out for the night.
On the restart, Battle maintained the lead, but Barzee, starting third, wasted no time moving underneath Young for second. Fifth-starting Talen Hawksby followed Barzee through for third. Sixth-starting Mike Bruce, returning to action, quickly made work of Jim Storace and Young to move up into fourth.
By lap 3, Bruce made a power move on the outside of his nephew, Hawksby, to grab third. A lap later, Barzee got underneath Battle for the lead entering turn 3. With four laps complete, Bruce also got under Battle for second, trying to keep pace with Barzee out front.
Barzee managed to pull away from Bruce slightly, and by halfway, the top five stood as Barzee, Bruce, Hawksby, Battle, and Storace. That order held through to the finish, with Barzee taking the win and $2,000 richer.
With this victory, Barzee becomes the sixth different winner of the Oswego County Tourism 350 Supermodified division this year, joining Cliff, Perry, Young, Hawksby, and Storace.
In victory lane, Barzee reflected on the win: "I got a little lucky on that second restart getting by Ryan early, and after that I had clean air and was able to set sail. This feels really good after all the motor issues we had to begin the season. Together, a win like this means a lot. Thanks to JP Jewelers, Barzee Auto, JK Tobin Construction, A&P Auto, MARDON PC, Banco Hauling, and especially my wife, kids, my dad, and my mom."
Believe it or not, Oswego Speedway’s regular season wraps up this Saturday, August 16, as Oswego County Tourism presents Championship Night for the Novelis Supermodifieds, Pathfinder Bank SBS, and 350 Supermodifieds. Fireworks will cap off the evening.
